My wife and I stayed here for several months and we couldn't have been happier! The furnishings were tasteful, comfortable, and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool and patio offer a wonderful view of the surrounding city. We were within a 10 minute walk of Ipanema beach and several great restaurants.

We spent 2 nights there and loved everything about this boutique hotel. Really nice staff, and Benjamin, the owner, is super helpful. The location at the entrance of the favelas can be somehow surprising at first, but it is actually really safe and ideally located to walk either to Copacabana or Ipanema. The room was decorated with taste, and the... More

We stayed at Casa mosquito for 3 nights in August. It is a lovely hotel with excellent staff. The views are breathtaking. It's well located in ipanema and it felt very safe walking around day and night. 5 mins walk to ipanema beach. Loads of bars and restaurants really close. Couldn't have asked for more from this boutique hotel. The... More

Perfect for a couple wanting to explore Rio with a touch of luxury. Rooftop pool and bar with views! From the front terrace you can see the favellas down the hillside. Great G&T spot. Walking distance to Ipanema beach. The room was characterful, in a trendy way, but a bit small and there were some broken mosaic tiles in the... More

It might take a bit of time for the cab/Uber driver to find his way around the steep & tortuous cobbled stoned roads leading to Casa Mosquito, but that's the modest price to pay to access a truly fantastic location with commanding views of the entire south-eastern districts of Rio. I arrived early with no reservation and was very warmly... More

We spent a very good last three days in Rio at the end of our second trip to Brazil. The first time we came, so many people had told us how dangerous Rio is, that we were like two scared mice and hardly dared leave the hotel. This time we treated Rio exactly as we would treat any unfamiliar city... More

We stayed at Casa Mosquito on the last stop of our one month honeymoon stay in South America. We enjoyed the stay in general but there a few things that could have gone better/smoother. To give an accurate review, we decided to break down the overall experience. 1) Location: The location of Casa Mosquito is actually very central between Ipanema... More

Whilst the communal lobby and rooftop are nice, the room itself was shabby. Tiles in the bathroom we coming up, the wall under the air conditioning unit was black with mould, the chairs on the balcony were so filthy you couldn't sit on them, it was generally quite worn with splintered doorframe and so on. It was not what you... More

Ipanema
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
