They could do better with the rooms, as they are shabby / worn. They lack of sockets in the bedroom, and air conditioner has 2 positions, ON or OFF, all buttons are missing. The window of the bedroom face a void with all othe bedrooms and condenser of the AC Unit, so it has to stay closed all the time...

If you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Rio de Janeiro and want just a good hotel as a base while sightseeing or relaxing on Copacabana Beach then the Rio Pompeu is the place for you. Situated downtown, away from the tourist-grabbers, this hotel offers excellent accommodation and breakfast for under £45l a night for a deluxe room....

It's an average hotel definitely nothing special but me and my friend enjoyed our stay because we weren't looking for anything special just a place to stay, also free breakfast which is great and in our room had a mini fridge with sodas, beers and water which would be restocked daily (you do pay for them at the end of...

When we arrived in the evening we were a little bit disappointet about the neighbourhood, but we soon found out that the hotel is situated on historic grounds. The hotelmanager took us on a little stroll and showed us beautiful small streets and the places from which the history of Rio (and samba) startet. He had good knowledge of Rio's...

Single person room was small but was enough. Beds are hard and to small for tall people like me. (1.96). Room was cleaned everyday. Clean towels and soap etc every day. Bathroom was larger than expected and was really goid. Toilet seat was a cushion. Not good imo. To vulnerable for bacteria and dirty butts. Hotel has a night watchman...

Dear Sir, I would like to thank you for your comments at TripAdvisor. We will get your advice to try to improve our services. The hotel is located in downtown just near some important monuments. The hotel is not in the beach, but there are options to reach to the beach by underground or bus. We look forward to hosting...

Do not make the same mistake that I did by booking a room in this hotel. There are many good hotels in Rio. Look in the Santa Teresa area instead, you will love it there. This area is bad and not advisable to go out in at night.

Dear Sir, Thank you for your evaluation. I agree that Santa Teresa is a lovely neighborhood, but as safe as the central area at night. As far as I know, the only hotel in Santa Teresa, is the five stars hotel called Santa Teresa. So just be sure where you will book your room. It will be probably a guest...

This place is in a horrible location, Its not near the International airport but rather the local airport. It is dirty, the rooms are dank and filthy, the air conditioning doesn't work and people leave there doors open because its so small and hot. It is in desperate need of paint and I wouldn't be surprise if there is danger...

Dear guest, Pompeu Rio Hotel is located in downtown, just 300 metres from Avenue Presidente Vargas, the most important street in the center of Rio. There are no personal data in your profile so I am not able to find your booking data, in order to find out what could happen. There are sometimes that our guest pretend to book...

Tiny rooms, dull breakfast and dull area, but relatively close to metro so it's easy to get to other locations. Hotel slightly dated but still in Ok condition. If you need silence in the morning you should ask for a room away from the street.

Booked two double rooms 2 months in advance but they did not have them when we arrived. Assigned a 3 person and 1 person rooms for the night. The 3 persons room was 5 feet from the busiest city street, door does not even close fully and has shutters with gaps; so it was literally like sleeping on the footpath...

We were misled by the website and were forced to stay at this place because there was nowhere else to go. The neighbourhood is very scary, but the 'hotel' tops it up with some of the people who stayed. The stink and the noise was horrible, and we couldn't sleep at night with people coming in and out. My room...

Management response:

Dear Mr. T P, Our hotel is located in downtown, just 2 quarters from President Vargas Avenue, the most important avenue of Rio de Janeiro. Our neighborhood is included in the project "Porto Maravilha", and workers of Council of Rio de Janeiro are working in the streets near the hotel, so in this times, streets are dirtier than usual The...
