The hotel is great. Well above Brazilian standards of hotel and in my opinion the best in Rio. Private beach and huge resort like grounds yet only moments from Leblon/ Ipanema etc. Perfect balance.
Rooms excellent with great views.
Club lounge service is exceptional.
No other hotel you’d feel more at home. The breakfast downstairs is unmissable, the food, views and I’d have to praise Shirley at the Bene restaurant. She makes a mean tea at request, lemon, ginger and peppermint that will cure any jet leg...Ready to reprise...More
Over the last 28yrs I have been staying 60% of my time in hotels and I must say, I have never had such a friendly, kind, efficient and joyfull waitress as Shirley! She is the best!!! She was serving the breakfast at Restaurant Bene.
For 3 days in a row Gail and Shirley in particular , but also the rest of the staff, made breakfast a really enjoyable experience.
The service, atmosphere and buffet are really up to standard and more.
Despite the 70s architecture the hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, the stuff is friendly and the breakfast is good.
Really nice is the large pool area and the direct beach access. No other hotel in Rio offers that...More

Exactly, indeed...they are not far from each other, but it really depends on the traffic at the time... usually if the traffic is not so bad, it takes around 20-30 minutes from the GRU airport to Sheraton... I wouldn't recommend to stay there because it's not so far form GRU airport, but it's not so close to the important neighbourhoods of RIO....
But if you stay in Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon you will save money from taxi, because you can walk small distances, although from Sheraton, everything you do you need to take a taxi. I wouldn't recommend to walk nearby... But if you are going for a business purpose, and you'll stay in the Hotel mostly of the time, it's fine. It is a very nice Hotel.
