This hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to Copacabana beach, a beautiful beach. As with any city you need to be cautious, obvious show of wealth to be avoided, the tunnel beside the hotel leads to a shopping centre, walking through the tunnel is not recommended unless the police car is sitting there at the entrance to...

Tucked a few blocks back from the beach, the hotel provides all the comforts needed for a good break. All staff encountered were helpful and easy to deal with. Rooms were adequate but, lacking in the number of power outlets. The buffet meals were above average.

I went during the 2014 FIFA World Cup with my family, and whilst we didn't encounter any real problems during our stay, we felt that the quality of the rooms were simply not up to scratch and the bathroom was below average. Also, it was disappointing that not one staff member could speak any reasonable English, so we had to...

We were sent to Merlin as the hotel we initially picked (Acapulco Copacabana) was overbooked. The hotel is very dated, room is spacious, but the decor and furniture are old. We had a good night sleep. Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated. The main thing we didn't like was the food. Poor choice of hot dishes and everything was just...

Location, although only a few blocks from the not-so-nice-end of Copacabana beach, really exposes you to realities of life in Rio. It's on a super busy street not far from a tunnel that everyone warns you shouldn't be walking through which makes you put up your guard at all times. When we were there, I had a real problem with...

Just 3 blocks away from Leme and Copacabana beaches, and located on a very busy and noisy avenue. Nice for the day, but not for wandering at night, specially for foreigner tourists, since it is close to some brothels. Excellent breakfast and nice staff. Rooms are just fine.

The hotel is located about 200m back from the beach and there are some shops where you can buy basics between the hotel and the beach. My room was a good size and clean and service was good in the hotel. The area immediately outside of the hotel felt safe. Breakfast was good and there is a swimming pool on...

Reasonably priced hotel given that the World Cup and Olympics are going to push up prices in Rio. Conveniently located near Copacabana beach and you can get to Corcovado rail station for 20 Reals. However, if you have to get to the Sheraton at leblon, it will take you 40 minutes with the Rio traffic and cost you approx 30...

booked last minute through hotwire. excellent value for money. Yes the hotel decor is full seventies... and reno are ongoing. but you can't beat the service. Roof top pool is great. Location work well. Mny thanks to reception staff who worked though airfare reservation problems. Breakfast buffet was very good with lots of staff around to replenish what is needed....

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
