We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival, which may be somewhat slanting the perspective. But in a complicated city, South American Copacabana is a calm oasis. Convenient as well, since one can get to the beach in Copacabana in two short blocks, while the...More
I went for business, stayed at South American for the 2nd time. Nice location, friendly staff, good breakfast and good dinner, despite of few options. Nice size rooms and great bed. Would go back again, for sure.

South American Copacabana Hotel Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful
draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.

I believe that there is on the side parking for hotel guests. Having visited Rio some 40 or 50 times, I feel compelled to likewise tell you that it's not exactly the city you want to drive in. Public transportation is excellent including Uber. You can walk from Copacabana to Ipanema in minutes. Parking is never easy anywhere in Rio. Driving patterns are completely different in Brazil....
