I stayed here for nearly two weeks, late June / Early July 2016 in room 1303. The refurbishment of the hotel seems to be nearly complete, it looked as if floor 5 and below were still unchanged. My room was absolutely fine. The bed was firm (how I like it) and the small wardrobe had a safe in it. The...

The Rio's President team appreciates your attention and comment! We are a hotel from the 50's and we are undergoing renovations to better serve our clients. As you said, our terrace is completely new, as well as the gym, sauna and bar. And the Centro of Rio, where we are located, is part of the cultural center of our city....

Very Old Hotel! Actually looks like a brazilian motel! The bedroom is very old! Bathroom is ok. They're reformulating it so there's material construction everywhere! Wifi is ok and reachs the room. Breakfast is really poor! 10 minutes walk from the next subway station!

I won't fly with Azul any more and won't go to this hotel. Ended in a hotel at the airport on my expense. Location is not that good at the centro and the hotel in bad shape. Good only for backpackers maybe!!! Azul can't do this to the passengers after they cancelled a flight....

Had to stay there as all other hotels in the area were full. Rooms were in a bad condition and not clean, food was terrible , WiFi was payable and very slow. Location is good, close to metro station and shopping. Overall not an enjoyable experience.

....location is the only positive note for this hotel! Rooms are small somewhat clean but very old (but that's expected of Rio since it's an old city), the elevators break down on a regular basis at least twice eveyday, in 4 days I stayed in Rio's I can't recall how many times there was an incident with these 2 tiny...

I don't mind staying at a poor hotel if thats the only option I have. But there is nothing worst than staying at a bad hotel with rude staff. The lobby is dirty, the rooms are old and a bit smelly. at least they are not dirty. Maintenance staff are the only nice people at this hotel. The neighborhood looks...

I have no idea why anyone would stay here. We selected it only because we needed it for a very brief stay, its near SDU airport, not too expensive and it looked better online. Note: although it shows as appr. 1.5 miles from SDU, it still took 20 minutes by taxi. The room is cramped, dark, hot and spare. The...

Booked a stay here through a third party; we booked a triple room for a week for carnaval at EXTORTIONATE PRICES. There are currently better, cheaper hotels available In Copacabana. Upon arrival they told us that it was a double friend and our female friend had to leave. Into rio centro at 1am in the morning, with all of her...

I stayed at Rio's Presidente Hotel from 16 to 21 June 2013. My main reason for going to Rio was the Confederations Cup, the football tournament of Confederation winners. I was forced to find a hotel in the Centro area because the hotels on the popular beach areas of Copacabana and Ipanema were fully booked. I was also on a...

Mortified on arrival when shown to my room. Very small with dirty grey blinds at the windows. Couldn't open them because the neighbouring building was so close I was overlooked by about 10 dwellings. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable, unfortunately there was no hot water in the bathroom so had a cold shower. The following morning I...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
