This is a hotel that goes back to the 40's, when Rio was barazilian capital. It is located right beside Catete Palace and side rooms have a beautiful view of its garden and the sugar loaf. I got a huge, recently redecorated room (that was room 632, in case you are wondering) facing the park and a cutsy 2-chair tea...

This a 1950s hotel that has been renewed. Not at all a boutique hotel, but certainly clean and for a reasonable fare. Located in a classic and not so obvious part of Rio, has a terrific view to the Sugar Loaf and Guanabara bay. Rigth across the street there is a great park (Museu da Republica), which makes it specially...

We stayed here last year and we got a room with Sugar Loaf view. The room is small and very noisy. The furniture is old. The breakfast is excelent. A curious note: When Pelé did his 1000 gol, he stayed in a room at this hotel. There is a comemorative chart in the front desk!

We are a young American couple who just got back from a 12-day trip through parts of Brazil. We tend to travel on a budget (aiming to spend around $70 USD per night), but we spent a more in Rio (around $170 per night), namely because we had heard such ghastly things about other tourists being mugged, etc., and wanted...

Stayed for two weeks for business and it coincided with Carnival. Initially stayed in Executive suites which had been renovated nicely, were quite comfortable and clean with good views of Flamenco beach, Sugarloaf, and Catete Gardens. Internet access was provided in each room. Gym was pathetic and missed having a pool to swim in. for the last few days we...

We went to Rio during the carniva & stayed in this hotel for 1 week. We knew from the begining that it is far away from the beaches, but since rio does not have an extensive public transportation network & it was during the busy time of the carnival, the location of the hotel was a major problem for us...

Novo Mundo is an elegant hotel, we went on vacation to Rio's famous carnival and Novo Mundo was perfect since is closer than carnival avenue than Copacabana's hotels. It's situated in a aristocratic district in Rio and has amazing postcard views. We stayed in a beautifull penthouse suite with huge bathtub, smart. Having the chance to see carnival in Rio...

The hotel was average in interior but comfortable and everything you needed was available. Staff were ok but sometimes snooty. Location was good with good access to metro and buses. Also great view of sugar loaf. The only bad point was the food. Maybe it's uk taste buds but the breakfast was not good and I had spaghetti bolognese at...
