Pros: - Very friendly staff - some speak good english - Despite being in "favela" it was remarkably safe. I assume that it is not favela as favela in Rio. We walked with our backpack and wore our camera openly. - Vidigal Beach - smaller, less known, less crowded, with shower and refreshments, relatively clean, good sand, good waves, nice...

Nice location and friendly staff make this a great place to stay. Be sure to do the Dos Irmãos hike, explore the favela, and take advantage of the several tours the hostel helps to organise! The view from the top balcony is also a brilliant thing to wake up to every morning. No location in Rio is close to everything,...

This was my first time in Rio. Fernanda picked me up from the airport and on arrival met her mom Tania, followed by Victoria and Bruno ater. Everyone in the family is so warm and caring. Amazingly I found my way down and around without getting lost. There is a map of the favela in living room. If you have...

Lovely hostel, lovely people. If you don't mind a short walk up a favella hill (or pay for a moped ride), you will be rewarded with a friendly, helpful hostel with beautiful views. Easy to get to the tourist areas by bus or foot. Great experience to be in the favella. Felt safe as a lone woman traveller.

We had an amazing time in Rio and it would not have been the same without Vidigalhouse and our great hosts. We liked Vidigal and felt safe there (also, on the same street as the hostel, Esquina Pizza and Dois Irmaos Restaurant are good). We also enjoyed our walk to the Leblon/Ipanema area every morning. The hostel was always clean...

The hostel is great - it's a family place where you can relax. Rooms and everything is very clean and tidy and they even organise BBQ's every now and then. Area is very safe. Views from the terrace are beautiful, highly recommend this place to stay.

I really liked this hostel and the neighborhood Vidigal. There's a roof terrace with an amazing view over Vidigal and the sea. The rooms are nice and clean and the staff is lovely. They also have private rooms and it's within walking distance (30 min) from leblon and ipanema. I'd really recommend this place!

I found Vidigalhouse Hostel as a really great place to stay during my trip to Rio. The hostel is extremely clean, the views picturesque, and the staff friendly, helpful, and genuinely quite kind and willing to help. The hostel location is pretty amazing. It's located at the top of the Vidigal favela, which is a vibrant and very safe neighborhood....

super sweet family runned hostel, with the best view and the nicest Favela in Rio. The terrace is super spacious and the breeze is awesome. Beaches are in walking distance, you can use the kitchen and the breakfast is included. Fernanda, Bruno and Victoria are super lovely. You will enjoy your stay here.

I'm surprised this was rated so positive and nobody mentioned the noise disturbence. I was going to spend 4 nights but left after 2. There was an open terrace club next door with terrible and loud music untill late. On Saturday I didn't catch much sleep even with earplugs and Sunday I could relax only after 23h. The hostel itself...
