Amazing views of Rio, both the sea and the favelas. It was really important to us that we felt like we were in Rio, not just anywhere, and it ticks that box.

I lovely guest house tucked away in Santa Teresa but very close to the bars and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated and breakfast on the balcony is a real treat. A great place to relax.

Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
