Nice place to stay if your on your own. Customer service wasnt that great, we were no impressed when we werent allowed to have a guest to visit for even 30 mintues, after not seeing him for over 15 years. Even sent 2 security guards to escort our friend who did nothing wrong! which left us feeling very disappointed for extremely bad service, lefts us not feeling good or to enjoy the rest of our stay. Due to hotel policy, we get that the hotel charges for extra guest, he was a visitor! Wont stay here again.
First the good: Awesome view and location, clean rooms, and breakfast was absolutely great or floor was quiet and air conditioning worked. I was drawn by the great reviews and opted to pay the 60% increase for a balcony with an ocean view. We received a corner balcony not large enough for chairs. All you can do is stand out there. CHECK IN: Our check in person didn't greet us; even though I made the reservation and handed him my US Passport he opted to take my wife's Brazilian ID and only speak with her. He didn't confirm our room choice, made no mention of the fact that the balcony would need to be unlocked; no mention of the included breakfast or the times for breakfast, and dinner, no metion of the bar or coffee bar; didn't ask if we had a car... When it was clear he had already completed the check in we asked if we had a balcony with an ocean view and he said, "Probably." The bad check in experience started off us on the defensive. ROOM: At the room we couldn't open the balcony becasue it was locked and asked the maid to have it opened. She told us to call the front desk. We asked for the number, she didn't know. Not a big deal, but this is the important information that the check in person should have covered. Later, we asked the maid where the bar was so we could get a snack and a drink...she said that bar was in the restaurant. We went there and they were closed until 8PM and they sent us to the coffee bar on another floor. I asked what kind of whiskey they use for an "old Fashioned" the coffee bar server said he didn't know and had to call the bar. It was then we figured out that even the bar was closed, they will make a drink on that floor and the coffee bar server has to go up and get it. The guy at the coffee bar disappears all the time becasue he apparently also has to make deliveries. DINNER: Great view, and we opted for the al-a-carte. We ordered the Carpaccio as an appetizer and the waiter said, "two?" We said no, just one and then he said OK, but they are really small and made for one person. So we ordered two and received two big plates of Carpaccio! He wouldn't take one back until we talked the manager who he sent to our table. That was weird. Normally a server has the authority to do take back orders without creating a spectacle. The Seafood Risotto had a burnt taste the Rack of Lamb was good but, came just warm and not hot. CHECK OUT: They do not have an express check out. You have to wait in line and that's how we ended our stay...waiting in line to leave.…
This is a well located hotel with a lot going for it. Unfortunately the rooms maintenance is sorely lacking for a 4-5 star hotel. Burnt out lamp bulbs, stained sofa and grubby and peeling wallpaper (room 618) and a small bathroom rounded off an underwhelming stay especially for the price. The breakfast was good but nothing special that you would not find in a hotel for half the price.....
The room is comfortable, Well decorated and clean. There is safe, refrigerator. The breakfast is complete and organized in a large room. It has a view of the sea and beach. Located close to a Shopping Center.
The 4-stars hotel is located in front of the beach, in the downtow of Florianopolis, very close to the Beira Mar Shopping Center. Attendants are very polite ans always helpful. The room is big enough, confortable and clean.
