Near Paulista Avenue and metrô, this hotel is ideal if you're on a low budget (many hotels that charge 1.5-2x provide worse service). The downsides are that the staff speaks only Portuguese, and the poor accessibility, the landscape is very irregular in that zone, specially in that corner, so not a good option for those with cardiac problems, wheelchair, etc. The neighborhood seems nice and safe.
If you are on a budget and looking for a hotel in Zona Sul near to Sao Paulo's downtown, this is it. It has its own parking lot (with a limited number of spaces, though), free quality wifi, air conditioning and more. Keep in mind, though, that the accommodations are aligned with the price.
Cardim Plaza hotel is a good hotel if you want to stay in the city, just at few blocks from Avenida Paulista and few blocks from the metro station. The structure itself was not so good: the room was old and very bad isolated (there was a strange smell coming from the bathroom and I could hear the guests next door as if they were in the same room as I) and the bed sheet were dirty...if there is a spot in a sheet it's time to throw it away! Breakfast was good, a nice variety. Staff was not very kind and helpful and did not know any English.
