It seems the double bed rooms are modified from formal queen bed room. Therefore the beds were too small for one to sleep comfortably in. Although the location of the hotel is preferable, the double room bed is a pain. Breakfast served is preferable comparing...More

I did not utilize taxi service and therefore I am unable to comment too much on this. From my experience, if you hire a taxi through the hotel, it is generally safe. But I can imagine it will be challenging to get a taxi back unless you can pre arrange with the hotel. If I remember it correctly, the journey by road took about 1.5 hours. Taxi is generally very affordable as compared to most cities in Europe, America and Australia. To go stress-free like I did, I chartered a private van (6 seaters) for a day for RMB 700. If you start early say around 8am, you can easily cover the Longmen Grotto and Shaolin Temple. For me, I even managed to squeeze a short visit to the Peony Garden in between, all within a day. If you want to hire a private English speaking tour guide, it may cost you additionally around RMB 300 to 400 per day. Hope this is helpful.
