I had several email contacts with this home stay and requested airport pickup and was assured it was no problem. No one was at the airport and we were told later, the son FORGOT to pick us up. Not a good start. The one western toilet is shared by everyone. The rooms are located up a dark and steep staircase...

We try to ensure that guests are aware that we are a traditional Tibetan home stay located in a mountain village - this by its very nature is isolated. This is the attraction for most guests. We are one of the very few homes with a western toilet and shower inside their homes in our valley. Traditionally only outhouses are...

Zhuo Ma's homestay is as real as it gets for experiencing Jiuzhaigou. This wonderful Ethnic Tibetan family homestay is surrounded by misty mountains, and every morning you will wake up at sunrise to the crow of the rooster. The family is warm and friendly, and does an amazing job of organizing transportation to all scenic areas. Food is fresh and...

Or stay at most 1 night if you really want to experience how Tibetans live in this area. Otherwise, this place is overpriced for what it offers IMO (no WiFi, too isolated). The food that's included is good, but dishes get repetitive if you stay 2 or 3 nights. Zhuo Ma (the only English speaker of the family) now lives...

Ours is a traditional Tibetan home stay in a simple mountain village. We do try to communicate this with guests before they arrive. This may be considered 'isolated' for people from large cities but for us, this is life. We offer the peace and serenity of the mountains rather than the conveniences and home comforts many guests are used to....

If you want to escape the hordes of tourists in Jiuzhaigou town and are looking for more relaxing and authentic accommodation, then this small place in a nice side-valley is an excellent choice! We stayed there for 3 nights, visited the (stunning, but unfortunately heavily overcroweded) Jiuzhaigou National Park and did some relaxing hiking around the area of the home-stay...

We stayed 3 days in late August this year at Zhuo Ma's, in our visit to Jiuzhaigou national park. This home stay is not that cheap (200 yuan/person and night), but includes breakfast, dinner and a small lunch bag (convenient for the visit of Jiuzhaigou national park, where the food is rare and expensive). The 3-beds room is OK, with...

We really enjoyed our stay at Zhou Ma's homestay, Ke Zhu and Ama are awesome! They both try their hardest to learn and speak a little english and are always nice and happy. Ama prepared lovely homecooked meals every day. The house is quite far from the park, so you really have to rely on the transfer service of Khe...

We stayed at Zhuo Ma's homestay for two nights in June and thorough enjoyed our stay. Zhuo Ma, it appears, doesn't live at the home, but her mother and other family members do. Zhuo Ma's mother - "Ama" - was exceptionally welcoming and went out of her way to make us comfortable in her home. Even though she spoke little...

I have had many home stay experiences in China, including the Tibetan part, and Zhuo Ma has been the worst. Though it is appreciable in the Jiouzhaigou area as it is far from the touristic area, Zhuo Ma is not welcoming at all!!!! Do prefer the youth hostels in Penfeng, where you will find helpful and nice people. The purpose...

After making a clear plan with the woman from Zhuo Ma, I flew to Jiuzhai airport, and explained to the shared van driver to drop me off at a particular intersection as instructed by the person from Zhuo Ma. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Zhuo Ma's Jiuzhaigou Home Stay is the Lonely Planet and Rough Guide top choices for Jiuzhaigou accommodation. It is located in the beautiful Shang Si Zhai Valley which is 15km from the park entrance (free transfers provided) where you will see local Tibetans go about their daily life, herding yak and goats as well as going on pilgrimages around our sacred mountains. Zhuo Ma runs the home stay with her mother (Ama) and brothers. They share their time between the home stay and their A Bu Lu Zi Tibetan Restaurant and between them will make sure you have a great stay! There is 24hrs hot water and a western toilet in the home stay. It is a traditional Tibetan home so there are no en-suite bathrooms. There is one bathroom on the ground floor of the home as well as two outhouse toilets, one with a solar heated hot shower. They do everything they can to make your stay comfortable but please note that this is a home stay in a beautiful, traditional Tibetan valley, not a hotel. ... more   less
