We stayed one night in Emma's Guesthouse. We looked for a nice place to pass the night in Songpan before our morning bus to Chengdu. Most of the other guesthouses were in a near by village, and in songpan this was enough for us. Although the room is a bit dirty and the hygiene is very low, Emma is super...

The room was fine, it was clean, had heating and hot water (although you need to wait about 10 minutes). I found it a bit expensive for what it is but the location was ideal and one of the staff provided us with helpful information on the bus schedules.

An eponymous guesthouse implies that its namesake is a personality worthy of being a brand--Emma, I believe, is not worthy of that distinction. When you, especially if "you" are a foreigner, arrive in a strange place you expect certain things from a guesthouse vs. a hotel, namely: more personable, perhaps family style, service, and special insight and inside information on...

We slept two nights here in two different rooms. Both rooms were very smelly and there is a very low waterpressure to take a shower. For the price value we have had a much better rooms. The place is worn out.The woman who is managing the rooms is very friendly and helpfull. Close to the hostel you can eat at...

Although this had a reputation of being a westernised oasis in Songpan and the welcome is still as good as ever, the facilities are a bit tired, walls are scuffed, and hot water is very slow to come, there are newer and probably better places available in town, but without the helpful spoken English. Emma's kitchen has a limited but...

We don't really understand the hype about Emma and her guesthouse. The rooms were ok, but not more. Bed very hard (as usual in China), at least there was a heater provided. Otherwise it would have been freezing cold. The bathroom was not so clean with some hairs on the Floor. The shower was not separated from the rest of...

Really disappointed by this Guesthouse that is nevertheless recommended by Lonely Planet. Yes, staff there speaks great English, which is quite rare in inland China. However, you can definitely discover Songpan for yourself easily without any other advice than provided by your guidebook. Rooms are simple but really humid. And more than everything, bathrooms (we asked other people who stayed...

On the bus to Sōngpān we met Emma and what a sweet, friendly lady is that. She owns a restaurant on the main street, named Emma's Kitchen and the hostel is just around the corner. Private twin room was small, but clean. Only thing what missed there was a common room.

Lying in bed writing this review, I have to say we are but cold at all, as there is plenty of warm bedding provided. The room is clean and simple with comfy beds. Having popped into another guesthouse which we'd actually booked, we found the owner quite pushy and sparing with the truth. Emma had spoken to us when we...

We recently stayed at Emma's guesthouse. It was pricey, cold, not enough bedding, cold water in the shower & the most disgusting smell from the toilet that didn't drain properly. Despite asking to change rooms & complaining of the smell, nothing was amended.
