The Lily Pad Inn is a very nice place with super friendly staff! It didn't take long for them to create a homely atmosphere. It's also really nice to join their "family dinner" (the staff eats lunch and dinner together and welcomes guests to join them). Other than that, the place is close to the Ancient Town, the mountains and...

Having arrived at Dali at 3am, we intended to stay at another hostel nearby, but that hostel's caretaker told us to go later in the morning. Initially, we tried the Lily Pad to no avail too. But its manager came shortly afterwards and offered us to wait inside until we could check in. Helpful staff to explain the attractions, clean...

We loved our 3 nights stay at the Lily Pad Inn. It's located in a quiet area, right outside the old city walls (5min walk) and at walking distance from the Three Pagodas. On arrival, we got to chose our room in the annex building - great rooftop double bedroom with views on the mountains. The staff was great during...

We stayed for 3 nights at the Lily pad in. The location is close to the old town however you need to cross a highway. The hostel is simply furnished and the beds are very hard. Twice we didn't have water in the evenings (due to local drought period). We really enjoyed living with the family which cares about you...

I found this hostel by coincidence and it was really a wonderful experience staying there, especially as a solo traveller. The staff speaks very good English, some of them are students which are keen to practice their English and are great fun to talk to. The hostel offers 'family meals' where guests can join the staff for lunch or dinner...

My wife stumbled into it one evening after dining at the Jade Emu. I guess our karma was good! "Circle," who seems to manage the place, was good enough in English to help us tremendously in enjoying Dali. She was helpful and courteous and diligent. Our room was a mini-penthouse on the third floor that offered privacy and a great...

we booked the room the night before at the reception, the second day we were given another room (without tv) after a long check in, I have to say maybe their handwriting booking system should be improved for it lacks efficiency. The family room we had is quite nice and big for the price given, however it didn't have hot...

Pros: check in efficient with English speaking interns/volunteers (I think most of the workers here are teens/twenties). Room is quite large for the price (120rmb/night) and airy. Clean enough, bed is quite comfortable. Cons: breakfast is terrible. Eggs are swimming in oil, "bacon" is actually inedible salted ham with the fat left on, bread is Chinese sweet bread. Coffee is...

The Lily Pad Inn is a charming, well-maintained place thankfully located just across the street from the busyness that is Dali Old Town. It's a very warm and comfortable place to come back to after hiking Cangshan or biking around Erhai. The staff is incredibly friendly, and very knowledgeable about Dali. Definitely sign up for one of the group dinners,...

“If you are taking the bus from the train station, it takes you to the opposite side of old town. Take the electric open car on Ren Min Lu street (3 yuan), takes about 10 minutes, to bring near the west gate that is near Lily Pad. The guest house direction online do not mention this.”
