This has to be one of the best hostels we've come across and it wasn't even our hostel! Having been recommended to go to Blue Gecho by our hostel (five elements) for some home comfort western food, we met Max. (If you want a break from Chinese after a long time travelling we highly recommend eating here, the food was... More

Our family has stayed at SleepyFish Lodge in Dali on numerous occasions. SleepyFish Lodge provides a family-friendly environment that is very affordable. The SleepyFish owners and staff are extremely hospitable. They go out of their way to ensure that our family has an enjoyable stay in Dali -- whether by providing bikes for an outing or serving a hearty breakfast.... More

Our party was travelling on a budget, but could not get over how amazing SleepyFish was as a hostel/b&b. The staff were so helpful in providing advice and arranging things for us. The location is good, and except for the odd rooster, very quiet as it is tucked away off a main street. Loved having a balcony off the room.... More

This is a clean, quaint, comfortable and affordable bed and breakfast hotel that also serves other meals in their beautiful garden courtyard cafe. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make you comfortable. They also help arrange sightseeing and activities and got us a good rate on horseback rides up the mountain.

My family and I had a great time staying at the SleepyFish. We stayed for three nights and couldn't say enough about how professional the staff are. The rooms and bathroom are clean and they have western mattresses (not the standard concrete Chinese mattresses) They have two dogs Milo and Ashley (I think they're golden retrievers) which my two older... SleepyFish was a great place to stay. The rooms were super comfortable and have heated beds which I really appreciated as it was a bit cold in Dali in December. The place has a beautiful atmosphere, very quiet and comfortable, and well put together. The owners and staff are great people, and were very helpful in directing me to other... More

When first coming through the eastern gates of town we thought we would like this place. The four of us dropped our bags off. We had booked the roof top rooms with the lovely covered outside area which was well used by us. Then we were off to cooking school for breakfast, including a tour of some markets and lunch,... Freestyle, quiet and unique place. Two lovely dogs welcome you at the front door, when you walk in there's a garden. The only opportunity is the address, a little far away from the town area, about 20 minutes. Beds are comfortable too, in the morning sunshine comes in and wakes you up.

Sleepy Fish is such a place to relax and enjoy time away from everything without having to be too far away from everything. The lodge is a nice walk from the main tourist attractions in Dali, but having a little exercise usually does more good than harm for most people. It's nice to get away from the crowds and to...
