We stayed here 2 nights. The 'old town' is surprisingly noisy but up the hill in the Zen hotel it is relatively quiet. The rooms are nice and the staff are welcoming. However, neither our hand held shower or the main fixed shower head worked and despite several attempts they never managed to change this situation. The hotel doesn't do... More

Excellent service, beautiful bedroom with authentic and tasteful decoration. Location on the hill provides walking access to old town as well as view on the Roofs of old city Lijiang. We had excellent breakfast in a very nice room. The garden and common areas are also very nice, with collection furnitures, giving the impression of living at home in this... More

There is no better place to stay in Lijiang than at the Zen Garden Hotel. The owners provide access to information and knowledge that would be difficult to obtain elsewhere. The Lion Mountain Yard was designed by the architect husband and it is run by his intelligent and gracious wife. It is a wonderful place to stay for those who... More

This hotel has a gorgeous set of tranquil courtyards and tea room, complete with goldfish and bonzai. Nice rooms with a great view. Pros: a great view, nice staff, free afternoon tea, larger rooms than Wuyi yard, heaters. Cons: night noise from bar street. Tips: impossible to find the first time so call when you hit the edge of the... More

We tried and failed to find this hotel due mainly to lack of signs, poor maps and confusing alleys. The staff sent out a rescue party, and smoothed out the frustrations with afternoon tea served with views out over old town. Now though at 10.30, Its out of the way location up the hill is not helping. The competing noise... More

Stayed in what they call a "suite",dirty, cold, plastic bathroom covered with hairs, shower who doesn't work properly stained sheets, and the horrible karaoke sound of the bar nearby until late at night, on the top of that unfriendly staff and just a boiled egg and cold coffee for breakfast. It was was a real nightmare.
