We have just returned from two weeks staying at the Milinij Hotel. This is a small, comfortable hotel in an excellent location. We had a room at the front of the hotel which gives a view over the promenade to the sea. It was a...More

Great hotel with a good location, but what made it the best hotel we have stayed in (no, really) was the staff. The friendliest most helpful reception staff. Thank you for a great holiday, right on the beach too.

I am looking at the self catering apartments, for myself and children, 18,16 and 13 as well as my parents. My dad cannot walk too far, although he could manage the steps down to the beach and the five minutes into Baska Voda. Please can you tell me if there would be enough to do for the range of ages and if there are sunbeds on the beach? My children don't want big nightlife, but more watersport activities. How big is the pool please, too. Sorry to ask all these questions, but I hope you can help. Many thanks Emma

I'm not sure if this question is about the Milenji Hotel which is in Makarska not Baska Voda. The Milenji is a good hotel with brilliant English speaking receptionists. It is a small hotel and does not have a pool but is virtually a few yards from a beach opposite the promenade that runs in both directions immediately outside the hotel. Evening meals are not run on the usual buffet system operated by larger Croatian hotels. You select from a choice of 3 courses provided ay breakfast. The rooms are kept exceptionally clean and all staff were helpful and friendly when I stayed last June. Makarska is a pleasant place to stay with a spectacular mountain backdrop and great beaches. There is a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants especially around the harbour. There were some water sports on offer in June but there will be a lot more in July and August when the resort becomes extremely busy. There are good bus links to Split, Trogir and even Dubrovnik plus ferry and boat trips to some of the nearby islands from the harbour. You can get to the island of Hvar and back quite easily on a Hydrofoil from Split harbour which is conveniently situated right by the bus station. You may have to book your tickets in advance online or a day or two before you make the trip as demand even in June is high and as I found out to my cost! There is loads of info about Makarska and neighbouring resorts on the internet including bus and ferry timetables as well as lots of you tube videos of the region. (Mostly with a youth orientated bias.)
