Hotel Ihusi (the Wind) is beautifully situated on the shore of Lac Kivu, with beautiful sunset scenes. The charm ends there. I've stayed in several rooms. If you stay in building where the reception is, be prepared for dim, dingy rooms. Mine didn't have a shower curtain. There are more modern rooms in the block with the restaurant. I shared... More

I stayed in Ihusi Hotel for 3 nights. A bit pricy for a run down room but conveniently located at la grande barrière, you can walk to the hotel. Staff is nice, friendly and helpful. Credit cards accepted and cash USD. As mentioned, the room I stayed in was in desperate need of renovation. Bathroom was bric-à-brac as well as... More

Due to an earlier than usual departing boat for Bukavu we needed to overnight in Goma and the Ihusi hotel was a safe bet. Set close to the Goma/Gisenyi border post this hotel caters mostly for passers-by and business people, NGO’s and merchants. As a result the price tag is a bit higher 120 USD for a double room. It... Situated right at the lake Kivu, the Hotel Ihusi is quite nice but it struggles with the realities of its surroundings. Make sure you get a room (against a $20 surcharge) that gives directly on the lake. The rooms on the garden have a balcony style entrance, which lacks of privacy. Staff are friendly, but certain services remain substandard. The... More

Lovely position on the edge of Lake Kivu. Make sure you ask for a decent room. Some are horrid, whilst others are awesome. Get one above the restaurant with a balcony overlooking the lake. Very nice breakfast, and you can hot foot it to Rwanda in a heartbeat if things get dodgy !...

I had 2 week-ends in town between a trip to Kisangani Stayed here the first week-end, but the second week-end the place was fully booked. We had asked to book us a room when we checked out, but when we inquired upon return, the front desk informed us they don't take reservations. This seems to happen often - it seems... More

I think it's important going in to understand what you're getting, and the questions to ask when being assigned a room. It's a lovely location. The lake is beautiful, the restaurant isn't bad, the pool is nice, and the crested cranes are a nice touch. Some of the rooms, however, are really awful--I assume the fact that there's such a... I've traveled multiple times across the continent of Africa and I am always grateful for a hotel with good running water, adequate air and internet and food that doesn't cause me to think twice. So when I found that here in Goma (where those things can be rather slim), I was thrilled. HOWEVER, I have never been in a hotel... More

The hotel is located near the border with Rwanda. There are not too many decent hotels in town, so we chose Ihusi for its good breakfast, 24/7 electricity and 24/7 (poor) wifi. And, of course, the view of the lake is quite amazing. The rooms range from decent to good, depending on what you are willing to pay. Each room... More

this is ,by far, not a best place to stay if you're in Goma, DRC. Rooms arent too clean, reception service isn't the greatest, WiFi is spotty and interrupts all of the time. Swiming pool, the main attraction of a lot of local ppl, is overcrowded... well, the breakfast, which was included in my room cost, was the best time... More
