The ultimate quirky hotel, but don't rely on GPS to find it! In a pedestrianised (except for residents and guests) part of the old city, at the beginning of the Malecon, this living museum has plenty to amuse and entertain if you want a break from the city. Large comfortable bed, air conditioning and river view. Service inevitably slow as... More

Pleasantly surprised when we arrived here, the antiques and architecture held us captive along with the views from the balcony where we watched iguanas and various birds in the treetops. We ate dinner here and was spoilt by the staff, we stayed in room 2 which was very good. Right in Santa Ana district this is a fabulous place to... More

The hotel is at the end of a cobbled street in the La Pena area of Guayaquil so it is a quiet spot. It is a beautiful old building with great views of the river & is filled with all sorts of quirky lights, furniture & nick knacks. The staff were friendly & the hotel certain,y felt safe. The only... A rare view of colonial Ecuador and the birth place of Sir Frederick Ashton. We were taken around by Abel, the restorer of this intriguing house. I highly recommend Rooms 1 and 2 with their amazing views of the river. A haven in a city that struggles with keeping apace with the speed of a growing city. Dinner at Plaza... More

The ultimate quirky, delightful hotel, in a wonderful location. I flew into Guayaquil and was advised by a fellow passenger not to go out along, ever, in Guayaquil. Not what I wanted to hear as a solo traveller with a day to explore the city. But the location is wonderful - best in Guayaquil - , the staff are so... More

This hotel is quite charming but only for a few days. Do not go here is you are not in good shape. Just to get to eh front desk you need to walk up 2 flights of stairs from street level. The hot water in the shower tends to go on and off so makes taking a shower interesting. Luckily... More

Make sure you book online in advance. They won't give you lower price at desk, especially if you drove out here at night. Decent rooms, but not for a price about $100. They do have plenty of parking. Bar is ok. They do have slips on the river. I imagine this is the place to go in Rio of you... More

First, the location of this charming boutique hotel is spectacular! Right at the edge of the art area and at the start of the Malecón. It is located JUST below Santa Ana Hill so your views could NOT be better. The water, the city, the Malecón, are all right within your walking. Next, as a single female traveler, I felt... More

My husband and I enjoyed a 36 hour layover at the lovely Mansion del Rio en route to the Galapagos Islands. Arriving in the very wee hours of the morning, Albert, the manager, graciously settled us into a lovely balcony room overlooking the Guayas River. Before setting off to explore the historic Barrio las Penas section of Guayaquil, a beautiful... More

We stayed here either side of a trip to the Galapagos. The hotel decour has to be seen to believed - all the art work painted directly on to the walls, the chandeliers and antique furniture were amazing. Our first room faced the river - had a tiny bathroom but the hot shower made up for it and the view... More
