We booked very last minute and were immediately accommodated with transfers, a desert tour, and overnight accommodations with breakfast included. Peter was unbelievably friendly and was quick to keep us on schedule to fully enjoy our stay. The food we were cooked by our tour guide was the culinary highlight of our trip. Every person we interacted with was a delight, the only bummer was that quite a few hot springs were out of commission due to faulty equipment (and there being only one means of fixing them in the oasis).
The unbelievable icing on the cake was when I left my headphones behind in the transfer car, and the team at the hotel worked with the driver to have my headphones returned to me in Cairo. That's service beyond the call of duty! Can't recommend this spot enough.

A wonderful dream hotel, in the middle of an oasis of its own. Lovely, simple rooms which help you to feel on a safari. Peter and Miharu, the owners, take personal care for their clients. Having their own tour agency, they offer safaris to the black and white desert, where you can spend one or more nights. So beautiful!

Spent New Years Eve at this hotel with a tour into the White Desert. Please call Peter for specific driving directions to reach the hotel from Cairo. We drove ourselves with no problems, having U.S. Passports. Five hours from Cairo to the hotel via Sheikh Zayed, and 4 hours on way back via 6th of October. Do not self drive via Mena. Road is in excellent condition, newly paved. Two gas stations on the drive between Cairo and the Oasis. Peter is an outstanding host, well organized, and with good wine in Peter's bar.

The hiking behind the hotel is excellent, lots to see in the Black Desert. The one-night safari to white desert was incredible. Reminder that there is a 750LE or so fee per person that has to be paid to a ranger in the White Desert, normally at the famous rock. Dont miss crystal mountain.

We decided a few days ago to make an inspection trip of this hotel and accordingly my assistant telephoned the owner of the hotel Peter Wirth advising him that my wife & I would be coming on Friday to meet with him and inspect the hotel as we were planning to bring a group there soon.

As planned my wife & I drove almost 4 1/2 hours to get there and due to no signs anywhere to help us reach the place we drove in circles until finally a local guy showed us the way.

We got there at 12:34pm, parked our car then walked into what seemed like a completely deserted place, reaching a lobby/reception area where no one was there at all, which made us feel totally uncomfortable.

I telephoned the hotel and a foreign lady answered, to whom I mentioned we were expected by Peter today, and obviously she was aware of our visit, yet she replies by saying “I just started my lunch now, so I will come see you in 15 minutes???

What a reply? Having been in the travel and hospitality business myself for 47 years, my wife and I decided we cannot possibly send clients to a hotel of that sort where there are no staff to welcome visitors, and certainly where whoever she may be who answered the phone was too busy eating lunch and willingly asking guests to just wait till she’s done?

Totally disappointed that we wasted our time driving to/from Bawiti to inspect a hotel which apparently lacks the ABC of hospitality business.

The location was fantastic especially for a desert trip in the black and white desert.
The owner of the hotel Peter and his wife are very friendly and try to make your wishes come true. We really enjoyed our stay! It was very peaceful a nice change from Cairo.
The rooms are a bit oldfashioned but the bar is great...

Everything worked excellent with them since the first contact. They picked us in Cairo and when we arrived we went directly to the Black and White desert. Our guide, Tamr, was an amazing driver, guide and cook! In the return we stayed one night in the hotel, which is simple but cozy. They are also specialized in tours to Gilf Kebir (depicted in the English Patient movie), although currently tours are not being allowed there. Could not thank enough Peter and Miharu for the outstanding service.

This hotel is modest. Sure it needs some updating and groundskeeping but the area is serene, has prestige sunset views from the mountain top, the dinner was delicious and Mr. Peter, the owner, and staff are exceptional! Most importantly the room was clean, the sheets smelled great and was equipped with everything you need.

The place was so clean, quiet and friendly environment. The staff were so welcoming and polite. The oriental food matches the environment. The classic home of hotel owner was still there including all furniture used and kitchen primitive equipment

On a general basis, I found the food at this place to be pretty pedestrian, a la cafeteria style. Food is very much part of my own holiday fun, and this place needs some help in that direction. Many people have said the food it amazing here, but I think Chef must have been off the time I was there!

My main purpose for booking into this hotel was their reputation for conducting Desert Safaris into the Western Desert; do make a point of taking that option, it's an extraordinary experience.

You might want to build in time to actually relax in this amazing setting. Consider adding a day AFTER the safari to wash the sand out and relax; it would have been quite welcome, rather than returning from the safari, and then getting straight into a car for another 3 hours back to Cairo.

I recommend this hotel, but make it a point to know what you're getting into before you go, and go in a group

I've been reading some of the reviews of this place and saw that many people complained about the manager's attitude and the food quality (apparently, being served a banana as a dessert is found to be quite outrageous). I personally found Peter welcoming and the food very nice, especially taking into account that more or less that's the typical Egyptian breakfast served in most hotels and dinner was tasty and filling (they even had a vegetarian alternative to the stew). The room where I stayed was clean and pleasant and I very much enjoyed soaking for a while in the hot springs before going to sleep. Our group stayed only one night and the following one we spent it in the White Desert. The tour was organized by the hotel staff and all of the participants had a very good time exploring the area riding a four-by-four and camping out in the desert (falling asleep while watching the stars immersed in the silence of the desert has definitely been one of the best experiences I ever had). Maybe I should note that the whole group was formed by archaeologists, hence people quite accustomed to living in not so comfortable situations - meaning to say that we are less picky than other travellers. We reckon that our stay at this hotel was very pleasant and we did not face any kind of displeasing issue with the managers nor the management of the lodging.
