On our last trip to Egypt my friend and I stayed at the Bedouin Castle. This recently opened hotel was one of the best experiences of our trip! We were greeted at the door with open arms! Us (probably) being the only foreigners (Americans) in the entire oasis made for a true cultural experience. The hotel is Egyptian modern and has all the necessary amenities you would need. Its basically a resort! From the mosaic tile throughout and the elegant traditional Egyptian lamps, every detail was accounted for. The owner Erin and her husband did a wonderful job with this hotel and there hospitality goes beyond words. I truly felt at home. Plus the view from my room over looking the palm grove is absolutely breathtaking and the only one of its kind in the oasis! The Bedouin Castle even has their own restaurant and bar (with Shisha) located on the top floor with a view of the entire oasis! Plan on staying for a while because not only is it so comfortable, but Erin and her team have even begun providing White Desert camp excursions, and jeep safari's ! They have so much to offer, I cannot wait to return!

We passed through this hotel which was absolutely lovely - very clean, well appointed - but our main reason for being there was an overnight camping trip in the White Desert. After a pretty spectacular trip through the whole continent of Africa, our entire family agreed that our overnight with Erin was the highlight of the whole trip.

The tour Erin gave us as we worked our way to the campsite was really fascinating - passing the Crystal Mountain, the Black Desert, the Flower Desert and then to the White Desert. Dinner under the stars was great, thanks to our chef and a visit from the little desert foxes (not in any way intimidating - or intimidated, for that matter) and the tents were very comfortable, even in June.

A big thank-you and thumbs up to Erin for creating this memorable experience for our family!

This is an accommodation that does not prepare for guests at all. It almost seems like a run down place that people may squat in (not the exercise).

When I arrived, no towel, no toilet tissue. The sheets did not seem clean. No WiFi.

What I did not realise was how many mosquitos there were inside the room. I thought I had got rid of the two or so I found, only to see several more in the bathroom and also woke up the next morning with bites all over my face. The place also has plumbing issues and the shower curtain seemed like it had been obtained from a crime scene. Thankfully I was not here longer than 1 night and was glad to get away the next morning.

The place is used by tour groups / guides. I think sleeping in the desert is a better option. Also there is not much around here.

Comfortable simple hotel in the Oasis village. The host is a foreigner with perfect English and super nice and warm reception! All staff are super sweet. It is clean, but don't expect any luxury. Nice to spend a night if you don't want to sleep in the desert. Nice view from the rooftop. We stopped in another hotel by mistake and all I can tell is thank God it was wrong! This is the best option around!

I have traveled all over Egypt on a budget the last 20 years but nothing had prepared me for Bedouin Castle. I arrived in the early afternoon and found a completely empty hotel except for a few kids. I asked them where the manager was and they led me down to a room in the cellar where the caretaker was soundly asleep - and that in the afternoon. When he got around he showed me a room which was excellent and had an amazing view which won me over. The next morning when I got down at ten for breakfast I had to wake up the same guy sleeping in the cellar just as yesterday. No breakfast had been prepared which was included in the price for the room. He then located some bread, cheese, jam and Nescafe and promised that next morning there would be a much better breakfast. When I came down next morning about ten o'clock the caretaker was again asleep (but this time in a chair) and again there was no breakfast prepared. Finally half an hour later the manager showed up and they arranged a skimpy breakfast for me. When I asked for an omelet I discovered that no one in the hotel had ever tried to make an omelet before. I suggested that I could teach the caretaker how to make an omelet but no bowl to whip eggs in were to be found in the kitchen. The manager told me they had bowls on the top floor in the kitchen where the restaurant was. We went up to the restaurant who had an amazing view over the 'Genina'. When I asked why on earth I had to take my breakfast in the cellar and not here I was told they were not allow to use the restaurant for single guests. Again there was no bowl was to be found in that kitchen as well. I finally managed to whip together 3 eggs to an omelet using a small bowl used for eating fuul.

Obviously Bedouin Castle was woefully unprepared to having guests. The hotel should have been closed or a very least have declined single guests. The only comparable hotel I can think of is Fawlty Towers and John Cleese.

We visited the Bedouin Castle over Christmas 2012 and had a fantastic experience at this amazing hotel in the middle of an oasis. The rooms were wonderful, the staff attentive and the food was delicious. The proprietor, Dr. Erin and her wonderful staff can plan many excursions into the surrounding deserts so that guests can experience the wonders of the White Desert, Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and many more. I would highly recommend this hotel and all of the treasures that they offer.

The Bedouin Castle in Bahariya is an amazing place to stay. It's elegant, comfortable, welcoming and beautiful! It feels like a castle! All the rooms have views of the desert as does the rooftop restaurant. The hotel rises above the tops of the palms so the views are truly beautiful. I was surprised by the menu but less surprised when I found that the hotel is owned by an American archeologist and her Bedouin husband. The menu reflects Dr. Nell's California roots. It's healthy and quite delicious. Dr. Nell and her husband were invaluable in answering my questions about Egyptian culture and travel in Egypt. I arranged a trip to the Western Desert through them - it was one of the highlights of my time in Egypt. Great food and music around a campfire in the Western Desert. Amazing. A dream come true! The Desert is not to be missed. I'll be going back! I didn't leave enough time for sitting on my balcony - contemplating the beauty and peace of the desert.

I have had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful Castle in the desert 3 times!! each experience -I was greeted with service fit for a queen- this hotel has first class service and accommodations - my friends and I were treated with warm Egyptian hospitality, the food incredible-- our trip out to the desert was extraordinary- Erin the hotel proprietor is a PhCd Archaeologist and it was a treat to have her accompany us out into the desert! 44 million year old coral from an old sea bed-and the camp site fit for a sheik, made my day!
The authentic Bedouin tent on the hotel grounds made for lively entertainment in the evenings( the locals gather here as well- so we had an opportunity to experience traditional customs of music and dancing!)- I never wanted to go home-- this is the way to experience Egypt!

I wanted a getaway vacation from the daily stress at work and I sure found at Bedouin Castle hotel with its oriental yet modern design. The view from all the hotel rooms is breathtaking as it is surrounded by palm trees farms, that provides guests with a relaxing environment. The hotel manager is friendly and always there in case any of the guests need anything. Also, in the hotel you will find all what you will need as they have direct contact with safari cars that managed to set a program that showed us nearly most of Baharya Oasis in two days. There is also wifi in the reception and the bedouin tent in the hotel in case anyone needs it. What is also unique about Bedouin Castle hotel is that they have a bedouin tent in the ground floor with daily bedouin party at night showing us part of their culture through the music and dancing. The hotel food is also very oriental, as if we have never left our homes with a twist of bedouin ingredients. I have been to Bahariya Oasis twice in November and December 2016 and being in a technology free, simple and relaxing environment is like no place I have been to in Egypt. It's a must try experience.
