It is so close to Semuc Champey, you walk "from door to door" sort of speak, taking into account that is a "difficult" road from the town to the park. The rooms are fine and clean, the only thing I have to say is: There must be a way to isolate the smell of the drainpipe from the restrooms, it... More

Stayed recently at El Portal with friends. Few lads in our 20's. I 100 percent could not recommend a better place to stay if you're visiting Semuc Champey. The most beautiful hostel i have ever stayed in. Feels like a tropical paradise! Only a 10 minute walk from the pools. El Portal is run by an amazingly nice family that... More

DO NOT GO ! Worst service in all Guatemala ! Ok the place is cute but for you to know : - no wifi - no water and of course forget about hot water - 4 hours electricity a day - double price for food and drinks. ( x4 for beers ) - they forget their good English as soon... More

Being the closest accommodations to Semuc Champey, that in itself makes it awesome. You'll see why once you see the road all the way from Lanquin to the pools. Most people stand in the back of pickup trucks and just hold on to welded on bars for the duration of the trip, which is about 45 mins from Lanquin. There... More

It is a beautiful place. All around is nature, and a river goes by. People are very friendly and opened to listen to suggestions! I like the food. It is good compared to others hotels and restaurants! 🍴😊 They also organized tours to Semuc Champey and Cuevas de Camba

Great location right next to the pools and cave. Don't pay for the tour, it's a total rip off and you can go to the pools by yourself and do a cave tour for a 3rd of the price. Very cold shared showers. Nice room with comfy bed and mosquito net. Very polite staff and good food at the on... More

Traveled with a girlfriend. The location is beautiful. Right next to the water, 2 min walk from the park. We stayed in the upper level of a wooden cabin that was pretty cute. The shared showers and toilets were very clean. The showers didn't have hot water, BUT they weren't freezing. It was a refreshing cool temperature that was actually... More

El portal is just few steps away from the entrance to the pools! Rooms are great and clean as well as the common areas and bathrooms. They don't take cards, but I understand since is in the middle of nowhere... Internet is on and off from 6 pm when they have electricity.

You couldn't pick a better location when visiting Semuc Champey. Located only steps from the entrance, it's so convenience, with a terrific view over the river. The bungalows are comfortable enough (albeit without electricity for much of the day) and the bathrooms (shared) are clean. The food and drinks are a bit overpriced, but then you have few other options... More

First of, you MUST go to Semuc, it's one of the best place we have been to in Central America. And then, you must go to this hostel, because you are literally IN the park. Ok, it's a mission to get there but once you are.. you forget all the hours of horrendous drive ! I think there is another... More
