This is one of our favourite experiences of all our backpacking accommodations. Mel runs a tight ship and has nailed the backpacker experience on the island. We had no expectations but left feeling like family. We only booked a week and stayed two weeks, and even had my two cousins join us as well. All the guests were amazing and... More

Great place to stay! Mel knows what she's doing. She creates a family atmosphere in an environment where people are always coming and going. I loved the movie night when she set up a screen in the backyard! This is the type of hostel that people stay for weeks and return the following year. The location is great - quiet... More

Mel has wonderful Hostel going. We enjoyed the Casita.... So we were able to have a very quiet stay at the Hostel, but are still able to socialize with all the other residents. And it was very inexpensive. The Lizard Lounge has a beautiful view and the Pool was really nice for a quick, refreshing dip. Hammock all over the... More

We really enjoyed our stay here! There was a nice pool where you could cool down after a warm day, there is a clean kitchen where you can prepare your own food and there's a place nearby where you can have really nice pollo frito. I stayed here for nearly three weeks in December after intending to stay only one night. The draw was a cheap, clean and fun place to stay, a revolving door of fascinating people coming through, and of course, mainly, Mel and her family who created a family atmosphere for everyone there and made us feel like we were at home......
