This is a very nice hotel with very friendly hosts. The room was basic but covered all needs, it had a rustic feel to it. If you choose to stay in Panjim then this hotel should please you. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered and was served on the roof.

Our first night in India and one of the highlights of our stay. Clifton and his mother Janet are kind and friendly hosts. The rooms are clean and spacious and have nice bathrooms. The communal areas, especially the front and roof terrace are quite beautiful. There is a nice collection of books to read and several great restaurants and street...

we discovered this guesthouse by chance when we missed a flight and had such a lovely time exploring the neighbourhood around that we have added Panjim to our primarily North goa - beach bumming holidays. Stayed a nght here again and just walked around Panjim. The hosts are lovely to talk to and very good about recommending new galleries or...

A classic Portuguese house in a quiet street with easy access to everything worth seeing in & around Panjim. You will be welcomed and well looked after by Jeanette & Clifton who offer a lovely mixture of old world charm & modern sophistication. The roof terrace is a real bonus. Very good value for money and highly recommended to anybody...

Stayed at Afonso Guest House from Mar. 4 to 8. As soon as I arrived I knew I made the right decision. The trees outside and plants and greenery inside gave the house a certain peacefulness. The Afonso family are very friendly and helpful and the staff are very warm. Breakfast on the veranda was great and the location of...

Tucked away in a by-lane in the Fontainhas area of Panjim, this quiet place of the Afonso family is warm and welcoming. Mrs. Afonso welcomes you with a smile and basic do's and dont's that come along with home stays, although this one is not one. The family lives next door. Rooms are quiet. A/c may need some servicing coz...

We had an enjoyable stay at Afonso, which is very close to all attractions and restaurants of Panjim. Clean rooms, with lots of trees around. If you are lucky, can get chance to play of their cats. Highly recommended.

After spending almost a month staying in budget accommodations throughout india with rooms having no toilets, filthy mattresses and sheets and no fans or ac, I decided to spend some of the money I had saved on a more comfortable accommodation for one night while I was saying in Panjim while I was travelling from Gokarna to Varanasi, I was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Afonso Guest House, run by Panaji's reputed Afonso family, is more than just a guest house to its many patrons. Nestled in the capital city's quaint Latin quarter of Fontainhas, it is a veritable bridge between Goa's Portuguese past and Indian present. A favoured haunt for many an adventurous traveller for over two decades, its hospitality and peppy spirit show no sign of aging and are still as fresh as they were back then. It makes no pretense of being luxurious; instead, Afonso Guest House prides itself in being simplistic and practical. With its friendly and welcoming hosts, it's truly your home away from home-clean and functional, the rooms are airy, and equipped with everything a traveller might need. However, the clincher is its lovely terrace graced with potted plants where traditional Goan breakfasts are served to guests every morning, overlooking the whitewashed St Sebastian Chapel. So, if you seek home in a foreign land, come over! Really! You won't regret it. ... more   less
