At first was hesitate to stay there but turned out it was the best choice I could have made. The rooms were basic but the service, the staff, the care, the attention I got were unreal. It is right next to the park entrance which is convenient for early morning hiking. The camp offered its own walks which are much...

Although the road from Kisoro is quite a challenge (will take you about 40 minutes, poor directions, bumpy, probably not recommended to drive yourself during the rain season), the location of the community camp is absolutely amazing, right at the foot of the mountains, just 10 meters or so from the entrance and office of Mgahinga National Park. The facilities...

We stayed in the double banda for two nights; it was ensuite with a pit toilet (accessed through a private walkway - it was a good thing that it wasn't right adjacent to the room...!) and a simple shower that had to be filled with hot water by the staff. The facilities are basic, but kept very clean and the...

Stayed two nights in January with a group undertaking a trek for charity. The site is pretty and well maintained and has two flushing toilets/showers as well as other non flushing toilets. The camp spans the track up to the park entrance, a short walk away. There is a communal room that has a bar, log fire and a few...

This place is perfect if you are going for the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. They offer really cheap beds just a few meters away from the main gate. The food they offer is excellent and with a fair price. They have a small fireplace for the cold/wet evenings after a hike. We stayed at one of their dormitories with five...

The community Camp lies 13km south of Kisoro. The road that leads to the camp is pretty bad and we were advised by our car rental company not to drive it ourselves. Thus we hired a driver who brought us there in his own car which was a bumpy ride ("African massage";) but we reached the camp in about 45...

I stayed here for 4 nights in August 2013 and highly recommend it. Right at the entrance to Mount Mgahinga National Park and gorilla headquarters in far SW of Uganda. It is a wonderful location at the end of the road on the side of the volcano. Beautiful. The road up from Kisoro is 13 km and a bit rough...

First things first, getting there is tough and if you have just arrived from Rwanda and/or have never ridden on a motorbike before you are probably better off getting a taxi, which will be very bumpy and take between 40 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the weather as its easy to get stuck. The views though...

A privileged setting up the end of the dirt road 45 minutes from Kisoro, has a world's end feeling, but the brick building with the hydrangeas, lawn and verandah gives it an English feeling...over 2000m up! Accommodation is in simple bandas, basic, but clean, with shower and pit toilets. A washbasin would have been handy at one point, but the...

If you are booking this accomodation remember you are booking it for the location and to support a community project and it's cheap. Your accomodation will not have electricity or running water, but it will be clean, will have the most amazing view and will be run by some of the most friendly people we met on our travels. We...

“Fitness center is the national park which is on it's doorstep! Pick a room closest to the bathrooms, those on the field opposite the main lodge feel a little isolated which is good or bad depending on what you want”

“We stayed in a banda for $30 (their nicest room). I actually thought I booked one for $20, so double check that when you arrive. It was great - private (rustic) bathroom, great porch with chairs to sit on, cozy bed. I definitely wouldn't have been excited to sleep in a tent after that hike!!!”
