I stayed in a round room with a balcony which was just opposite the beach, The bed was comfortable and the room was nice. The hotel was one of the first hotels built on the seafront and maintains many Victorian features. The breakfast was a buffet and very good. The swimming pool is inside on the lower floor

I wish we'd looked around more, but we wanted to get to the beach. "Superior" room had an ocean view but was tiny and run down. Thin hard mattress and not as charming as I first thought. Keep looking.

A trip down memory lane, enjoyable, rich in its history. The rooms are a bit basic and the bathrooms need to be renewed, but the really friendly staff make you forget about it. Very good breakfast with home made cakes and scones!!!

The best part of the hotel is the location. Rooms are a bit older, as are the linens. Incense in the hallways also provided a distinct smell. Beautiful fireplace though in the common room great for winter.

Uruguayan friends told us we should stop in Piriapolis for a local beach experience. We chose the Colon because it was at the end of the beach where it was more quiet. The historic hotel was fun to stay in... a little funky, but it was unique staying in the round tower room with a view of the beach. (You...

This historic hotel has been in the family for many years. Ricardo, his wife and children will share their recommendations for fishing, boating, horseback riding, and other activities. The beach is wonderful and not too hot like Rio. If you are enjoying the city and countryside, you will love the location. If you are chilling on the beach, you will...

It's hard to describe the place. When you enter and look at the reception and the floors, you think, well, nice, a house with history: nice decoration, lovely tiles etc. But once you see the rooms, it's bleak horror: so small you can't turn around. Smelly. Completely loveless. And the bathroom - - well, words fail me. Honestly, do yourself...

I ended up staying 2 days in Piriapolis. Lovely town and the Hotel Colon is centrally located. The staff was extremely friendly. Had a family feel. I speak Spanish so not sure what the English level is.
