Distinctive hand painted interiors set this bed-and-breakfast apart from other properties. The interior courtyard also offers a bit of privacy for guests. Sasha & Sons is conveniently located close to Bukhara'd famed markets. Breakfast selection was good. If the small establishment is crowded you might end up in windowless room 9 (?) which I found claustrophobic. To ease my discomfort I was given a bottle of Moldavian red wine and later moved to another room.
As all previous reviews have stated the uniqueness of the rooms makes this hotel stand out. I wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of the beautifully calm seating areas scattered around in courtyards. I really felt that this was an oasis in the desert ... especially after a 7hr journey! Staff were friendly and welcomed us back at the end of the day. I believe previous reviews have been acted on in the provision of a selection of fruit. As others mentioned: take an eye mask as the rooms are very light. Also ear plugs if your husband snores! I was also pleased to have taken a universal sized sink plug as the plug was too small to allow water to stay in sink. My one major complaint is no kettle in the room or when asked at reception. I am a very grumpy person without a drink on waking. I had been organised enough to take tea and coffee but to no avail. Overall a satisfactory stay.…
We spent two nights here. We had a standard room at the back of the hotel. Would recommend staying at the back of the hotel. Possibly quieter as the front rooms are round an atrium. Our room was large, comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Free wifi. The hotel is well located minutes away from the main square. The staff are helpful. One thing prevents me awarding 5 namely problems with hot water. It was fine when the hotel was relatively empty. The first night they had a full house. The next morning we did not have hot water. We were told it was because the hotel had been full. There is perhaps a problem with the capacity of the boiler or tank (the night before lack of hot water was due to a gas/water cut that affected the whole town but it was restored later that night).
This is a lovely hotel situated perfectly in the centre of Bukhara - great for all the sites The rooms are clean, large and beautifully decorated in a traditional bukhara style There are cute little courtyards set around the hotel where you can sit outside and relax The hotel has wifi Breakfast was basic but good - all the essentials - eggs, breads, fruit etc Staff were always friendly and helpful Only slight drawback was that the bathroom was smelly - the sewer system in bukhara is quite basic (no tissues etc down the loo) so I'm guessing that's one of the side effects. Didn't affect our stay though - just closed the bathroom door :) A great place to stay in bukhara
We stayed 2 nights in Sasha & Son and had a great time. Our room was very spacious, nicely decorated and clean. When we were there the whole city experienced a water stop for 1 day and the management was very helpful in providing big 5l bottles of water so that we could wash ourselves. The little courtyards are very nice and well kept, they provide an oasis of silence. The location is unbeatable, besides Lyabi Hauz, within walking distance to all Bukhara's sights but still reachable by car. Breakfast was good but I would suggest adding some more fresh fruit, as Uzbekistan is so rich of it!
