Having visited the mother temple of Besakih, on a motor bike ride from Ubud, we decided to brave the rain and head further north to have a look at the lake. The further up we rode, the stronger the down pour and once we reached the ridge, we were suddenly in the clouds. The sight was so bad that it...

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the warm shelter of Lakeview on your journey. We do have a separate listing for our restaurant on Trip Advisor (this is the hotel one), I would really appreciate it if you review us on that page. The coffee and cake is on a special promotion at the moment...

Positives: •View view view. Priceless. •In room movies for rainy times :) •free wifi Negatives: • After a day out in Bali being targeted by hawkers/sellers the last thing you want when you get out of the car in the hotel's car park is to be harassed by 6-7 people 'buy buy buy' we believe that should be kept outside...

Thank you for attempting to make a balanced review. I do hope that now you have got all the issues off your chest, you have enjoyed the rest of your holiday and your return trip home. Travel in the Indonesian archipelago during tropical rainstorms is not for the faint-hearted. While you were enjoying the relatively pleasant weather (except for that...

We were planning for our second trip to Bali and since we did not get to check out the highlands during our last trip, we decided to get a taste of it this time round. Lakeview Hotel topped the available options in the region from our research via Trip Advisor. Our confidence increased all the more through email correspondence with...

Thanks for your enthusiastic positive feedback. I love putting together special packages for guests, as most tourist guides "to do" lists seem very out of date compared to the amazing things to see and do within and outside the crater. We've been testing some new trekking and cycling routes, a few of which I'm keen to recommend you try on...

The hotel location was very good. we can view the whole lake from the restaurant... the food was also tasty n nice. Although the hotel was quite old but it well maintaned. Unfortunately, during the night, we have to work hard to get rid of some insect coming to our room...

Thanks for your positive feedback on our view, food and service. And I'm sorry the insects bugged you at night. They do get attracted to the light, hence all the lampshades in the room. We have a food-grade insect repellent spray (by Habitat) available at the restaurant and front office. It's herbal-based but very effective in knocking out insects and...

We stayed here a couple of nights in December 2012. Wish we'd had a different room maybe that would have made our stay more pleasant. Ours was a room on the ground floor and the main door (old wooden door) to the apartment had huge gaps! So we were sleeping with all possible insects that managed to get in. We're...

Despite the insect annoyance, thanks for rating us so highly on location and service! I'm sorry but there's not much we can do in the present year about the doors you mentioned. They are antiques and part of the charm of the building. When we take them down, it's likely that we will also be renovating (ie. demolishing) the entire...

Everywhere from the hotel I was able to enjoy the stunning views across the valley to Mount Batur. The room was comfortable, beautifully furnished and spacious with a private balcony...amazing views from here too! Lovely touches like the bowl of local fruit replenished daily, the art on the walls, the gamelan players in the restaurant and the packed lunch beautifully...

Stayed with my wife and adult children as part of our two week holiday to Indonesia. Lakeview Hotel is positioned at the top of the road down to Lake Batur. It has magnificent views of both Mt Batur and Mt Agung as well as the lake. Most of the stores nearby close early evening so not much to visit after-hours....

Thanks for encouraging guests to stay for 3 days in the Mt Batur area :-) what an excellent festive season gift! Most Australians come up for a rushed breakfast before cycling or rafting down or stop by for lunch as part of a day's sight-seeing/shopping excursion. Only the very special Aussies come and stay. There are a lot of cultural...

My stay at Lakeview Hotel was most luxurious and so inspiring! The setting was beautiful; overlooking a huge volcano, with a lake in the valley and mountains to the side. Every day the sky shone brightly, changing colours, reflecting in Lake Batur. Our group of 4 arty ladies were made most welcome, we enjoyed sketching and painting the wonderful landscape...

Thanks for your encouraging review. I'm glad you enjoyed our first week-long art retreat. We will be hosting the next one in March. Most of our guests do come here for the outdoor activities, particularly the sunrise trek up Mt Batur, but we are also increasingly popular with families and couples who come to simply enjoy the fresh and cool...

A wonderful hotel positioned opposite Mt Batur and the adjacent lake. Thanks for your compliments, I will share them with our staff. Our next art retreat is scheduled for 18 to 23rd March 2013. This is the place to be if you want a cool and relaxing reprieve from the hot and humid touristy Kuta. I'd arrived after a 2 hour or so car ride from Kuta plus another 3 hour plane ride from KL. It sounds like a rather long drive especially after the plane ride but totally worth the drive up to...
