Its beauty and the friendliness of its inhabitants make you feel at home for a long time living there..with an incredibly beautiful natural landscape..liberta homestay is the best..wait for next destination
I'd been there at christmas season and very valuable room. And the food prices are less than other restaurant in Tuk-tuk. You can rent the motorbike at there(80k). It takes 3 min to go Harbour by walk(Sosor Galung). The boat will departure every 45minute everyday(6:45~). I extend few days when I stayed firsr day at there👍
You can walk 5 mins to the lake. Is basic room but we really love it here as it is very quiet. The price range was really good too. The owner was really nice and you can easily rent a bike here for 80K a day. Just walk in and ask for a room as they did not do any prebooking here. Because we were told to stay without booking as well. Very spontaneous place I must say!
We arrived there in the late evening, because a our prebooked accommodation was not as we expected. They were really nice, the food was good, the prices very reasonable. If you await luxurious rooms you might be wrong here but we stayed in the upper floor of a Batakhouse and it was nice experience.
At first I would like to say that I'm not a picky traveller. I travelled to many different Asian countries in the past 10 years, always on a budget, always going for simple, cheap accomodation. Gekkos are welcome under my roof and I don't raise and eyebrow if not everything is perfect. Liberta Homestay, however, was really not what I expected after I read the previous reviews. The garden is beautiful with many different flowers, and it was a pleasure to sit and read in this oasis. There is also a nice area behind the homestay, where you can chill and admire the lake and the surrounding mountains. Unfortunately you can't really swim, as fisherman are working in the area just behind the house. We payed 77,000 IDR / night for a double room. It's cheap, but we found out later that it's not unusual, it's easy to find accommodation for a similar (or even lower) price nearby. We payed some extra for hot water, but with our first shower we found out that there are only two settings: piping hot or absolutely cold water, nothing in between. The room was shabby, but it seemed right for the price. There was even a front porch with two chairs. Everything what is visible for the first sight is all right. But: the mattresses are very uncomfortable, the bed and the wooden floor are squeaking with every move, and everything hidden from the first view is full of dust and spider webs. The mosquito net is disgusting, full of holes and very, very dirty. The food is cheap. My husband had a nice grilled fish for dinner. I ordered tempeh sambal. I got some shredded cabbage with tasteless tempeh instead. No sambal sauce, no spices. I forced it down as we were too tired to look for a different restaurant after travelling from Berastagi that day. Well, it was a mistake... Next day morning I started to feel funny, and by noon I was restricted to the bathroom. The tempeh was the only food or drink for the last couple of days before I got sick that I ate by myself. I shared everything else with my husband and 2 friends. It ruined my stay at Samosir and I barely saw anything from the island. Liberta Homestay offers laundry service. It was a big mistake to use it. It came out very expensive (55,000 IDR, while elsewhere we never payed more then half for the same amount of clothes). I suspect that they don't have a washing machine, as some of our clothes came back just as dirty as they were. Some of the things didn't come back at all, and then it came apparent, that they don't even have proper ropes to dry the clothes. They were hanging on branches etc. Luckily we found most of our stuff, but not everything. As I see the other reviews, I anticipate Liberta Homestay to ask why didn't we tell them about our problems. We did. My husband told them I am sick and that it very probably happened because of their food. They never asked during the rest of our stay if I feel better. So much about the family atmosphere...…
