The hosts there are friendly and they did their best to help us enjoy the stay. In winter, there is no heating system in the tents, except in the place where we eat. There, it's becoming completely ok after a while.

I have to say that this place is beyond expectations. Even if we had some small communication problems by the phone, they all.work out whe n we got there. Lovely camp, people very warm and helpful, but, more important, joyfull. Is not a five star camp, but is a place where you can enjoy Wadi Rum as much as you...

Wadi Rum is a unique, out of this world experience and staying in a tent in a camp is the best way to enjoy it. We stayed in Salman Zwaidh Camp because it was highly recommended and our experience was the same as that of everyone who rated it highly. Every question we asked prior to our booking was responded...

These people are one of the most friendly hosts we met in Jordan. The only problem was our driver barely spoke any English and hence there was a lot of frustrations, but he was nevertheless a great guy. Delicious food and unlimited yummy tea made our stay a delight. It's a shame there is nothing to do in Wadi Rum...

Tucked away in the wadi rum desert. We had a great experience at this camp. The staff were friendly and attentive. Tents were clean and comfy! Didn't expect to have electricity or hot water but we had both!!! Great location. Love the couch built into the side of the mountain. All you can drink tea is great. The food was...

This is a basic and very simple camp, nothing fancy (which is great). Mr. Salman and his family are very nice and tried to accomodate our needs. After the 2-3 hours ride in the desert, there is almost nothing to do in the camp, so be sure to bring something to read. The cell phone signal is on, but there...

This was the 2nd time for us to stay at Salman Zwaidh's camp in Wadi Rum. Salman and his family were very hospitable and helpful. They looked after every detail of our visit, including organising a good jeep tour and short camel ride for our children. They have made improvements to the camp since our visit a year ago. There's...

We had a great stay. I wish the hosts spoke more English (it would be better for them and the visitors), but outside of that our visit was perfect. Very comfy tent, nice hot shower, comfy dining tent and excellent food, and lots of places to explore. We took a 2 hour tour with the camp hosts and it was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Salman Zwaidh Camp is an authentic Bedouin camp located inside the Protected Area of Wadi Rum Desert. This is a small and familiar camp that offers you a diverse experience of the Bedouin lifestyle. During your stay you will have the opportunity to meet local people, listen to their stories and share good conversations. We also welcome you to our camp kitchen if you wish so! We can prepare a meal together, as one big family, like in our everyday-life and tradition. All our meals are made according to our local cultural habits. If you are a vegan, vegetarian, or have any other special diet/food restrictions, we will have an adapted meal for you. After a good tasting of local gastronomy, you will find a special open resting tent outside, where you can relax and have a cup of tea. Arranged with mattresses and carpets, it is a good place to read a book, chill out, or have good talks enjoying the shade and the good Wadi Rum particular cool desert breeze.Other optional activities can be included in your stay as well, such as Jeep tours, desert trekking, camel rides and mountain climbing. We would be glad to help you arrange any other activities that we may not offer.Accomodation:Our traditional tents are comfortably adapted for the perfect combination of the simple Bedouin style and your pleasant stay. We have different tent types available: 1 double bed, 2 single beds, 3 single beds, and 6 single beds, and can sleep a total of 17 people. The camp also provides the possibility for renting tent pitches around our site, in case you are coming with your camping tent. Groups and families booking in the same tent is possible, just ask us. We can also re-arrange our tents according to your preferences (e.g. our 6-bed tent can have up to 8 beds, or we can add triple tents), and we have place for pitching your tent around our camp. All tents are equipped with beds and carpets on the floor. Bed sheets and linen for winter and summertime are provided. Private toilets and shower are located outside of the tents.Cleanliness and good care are always two important elements in the management of our camp facilities.Location:Salman Zwaidh Camp is located inside the Protected Area of Wadi Rum, just a 15min Jeep ride from the Visitor Centre. In one side, the camp is surrounded by beautiful orange-colored rock mountains. The big wall formed provides shelter to some species of little birds, that will come around to sing to you from time to time. The most adventurous consider it a good scrambling area to go appreciate the panorama view from the natural cave up there. An alternative walk from behind the mountain is accessible if you want to join them.A few steps away, on the other side of the camp, the scene opens over a wide desert corridor, where the eyes can reach the mountains on the horizon further ahead. There, you will be privileged by being right at one of the best local famous sunset and sunrise spots, an experience that will assure you feel the essence of the desert, combining beauty and tranquility into a show of lights that will connect you directly to the nature. At night, you will be amazed by the appreciation of the silence under the stars or walks guided by a full-moon sky. A two-minute walk will take you to smooth sand dunes, allowing fun day slides or calm night talks. ... more   less
