Not forgetting the famous bird watching and golf course.
Best time to visit for cool weather is November to January but be warn its a mansoon period with showers.
For bird watching is in June, please refer to Bird race at Frasers hill.
I personnally travel up from Singapore 4 times in a year. All.arrangement can be made at the front desk.
Try the guided jungle tracks of various needs, from adventures to children level.
A 2 to 3 hours walk to the waterfall and up is a good exercise.
One of the least spoilt places in Malaysia not to be missed.
Be warned :
1)Tansport up and down the hill is a problem? Call Puncak Inn for transport even from KL.
2) If you are into shopping , please avoid. There are only 3 or 4 souvenir shops selling T-shirts, fridge magnets and keychains.
If you can find me in Singapore, I will be glad to give you more infos and a cup of coffee yo go with our conversation.
Cheers.
On the day I arrived I had to argue about the same matter but their only manageress was on leave and they couldn't make a decision. Any hotel should have a courtesy to explain to their guests and to make a decision on any matter on the spot. You can't run a hotel with only a manager who can only make a decision (Life goes on even when he/she is on leave). I felt cheated. It's not so much about the RM40, but the principle of service industry. Because of this I stayed in another hotel on the third night. Guests can tolerate any shortcomings which are avoidable but when it comes to not giving a good service, there is a repercussion.
I like Fraser's Hill but because of this they will lose future regular visitor. I won't stay there anymore.
B. This is a budget hotel but the rate is not. (For local comparison with Malaysian standard
of living)
I've stayed in so many hotels including budget hotels but there are too many flaws here in comparison.
1. Price: too pricey (RM100-weekdays; RM120-weekends; RM140-public holidays)
2. Room: too small for that price- Me and my husband had to devise a movement system so that we wouldn't bump on each other. The consolations were the windows and the bed (quite comfortable because it's new)
3. Bathroom: the smallest ever used in any hotel. When you have your shower the water will splash on the toilet bowl and the toilet paper will get wet.
4. No lift (understandable-to cut cost), but the staircase is too steep and you have to mind your head.
5. The cafe: hmmm...
5.1. flies- should have a better way to serve the jam, kaya and margarine; smudges everywhere (not a hygenic way to serve food-doesn't need a 5 star management to think of a better way)
5.2. cold food
5.3. not much variety (understandable-to cut cost)
5.4. Bad dinner-price and taste: RM44. (Makan is a very sensitive thing at least if they
can't give the portion but give la the taste. I ordered;
5.4.1. squid sambal RM12- served with strips of squid with more onions and
tomatoes
5.4.2. Chicken curry RM 9- 2 small pieces, didn't taste the salt
5.4.3. eggs and vegetable - quite reasonable
C. Things to ponder for FHDC (Fraser's Hill Development Corporation): the owner of
Puncak Inn.
1. If the state government want to join the hospitality industry, they have to listen to their customers. It is a competitive business especially with the internet world.
2. Your guests' review might affect potential guests and the revenue of Fraser's Hill depends on tourism alone. Practically that is not much to do here except if you are bird watchers and really love nature.
3. For travellers like me who just want to find a peace of mind once a while from the chaotic KL, we are your targets. We spend money not just on accomodation but on food and other stuffs as well. Maybe our money is not good enough for your organisation.
4. Anyway, I'll come back but will try other hotels.
Negatives - Plenty ......... Read On !
Stayed 13 Dec 2013 , last minute decision to come up to Fraser's for some fresh cool air for the kids . Rooms were still available for Junior Suite they call it at RM 195 nett with RM 20 for an extra bed . On entering room 207 , the first shock to me was - it wasn't the size of a suite ! Imagine a bath cramped with a sofa and a double bed in a 200 sq ft unit and you call this a Junior Suite ? The extra bed I called for was a 3 inch thick mattress with a bedsheet and a pillow ! The room is totally beat ! It needs a total overhaul ! Close it for 6 months and do a proper rebuilding for the rooms ! Shower head is another problem altogether ! Just terrible ! No need to even mention the next morning breakfast - totally insufficient and pathetic ! Please Please .... AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS !
The hotel.
Check in/ check out procedure was quick and efficient. Staff was pleasant. Lobby was clean.Free Wifi and reading materials are available here. There's games and bicycles to rent as well. Location was very strategic. Restaurants, post office, police station, clinic, sundry shops, ATM, the golf course and souvenirs shops are all very near the hotel. Parking bays are limited.
The room.
Our room was on the first floor (all their Standard rooms are on the 1st floor), which had a lovely and unobstructed view of the clock tower roundabout and its surroundings.Couldn't have been better! Room was clean and cosy. Rather small, with only space for one person to walk around the bed at any one time. Those with large suitcases and baggage should store it in the big cupboards provided. That should solve the problem of space. Coffee/tea making facilities are provided, but there's no mini bar in the room. A minor downside of the room is it isn't carpeted, so the tile flooring is a little cold to step on especially at night. Another thing was the outside noise. As the room faces the popular clock tower, many tourist will flock the area and it can get noisy. There's also a restaurant opposite the hotel which many go to. However, the noise dies down by midnight (on weekends, not sure about weekdays). Thirdly, the walls are VERY thin. We could hear everything our neighbours were saying.
The bathroom/shower
The bathroom was small-fit for only one person to use. No shampoo provided, only a small bar of soap. The heater was functioning well.
Breakfast
The restaurant had a rather limited selection, but adequate to fill us up. Breakfast is served from 7.30-10.30 am. They had a selection of fried rice, fried mihoon, porridge, and three other side dishes, fruit juice, coffee/tea, toast with a choice of margarine, grape jam or egg jam (kaya) and some fresh fruit. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and the area was very clean.
Location - good as it is centrally location with the landmark 'clock" right in front of hotel and police station on the right side.
Breakfast - Breads, coffee/tea, juices, fruit on self service. An option of western or nasi lemak or something else which I can't recall made to order. Poor quality of food.
Wifi - free in lobby.
Indoor games - Carroms, Dam, Congkak - hotel charge RM3 per game!!
Big room of improvement needed for service and hospitality.
"Junior suite is a waste of money and half view of roof top, standard room are very small but at 1st floor best view of the clock tower."Read full review
