What can I say? It's just a rundown place. During my last visit, Fraser's Hill was pack with visitors. It's school holiday and I do believe this place can do better than this. I'm not asking too much, ignoring the dirty and moldy stairs, the damp smell in the room, the broken cabinet, the dirty sliding door, the creepy backyard, the yucky balcony, but at least do some basic cleaning? Like vacuum the floor, like sweep it clean? We saw the opened 3-in-1 coffee packet on the floor and some used tissue in the living room upon check in. I couldn't bear with the dusty carpet and have to wear my own slipper inside the room, I guess everybody did the same which make the room dirtier. Check out the photo i uploaded with this review. Breakfast was speechless. 2 eggs 2 sausages some salad and baked beans. Speechless for it was tasteless. Over grilled sausages, over baked eggs, expired or cheap baked beans I suppose, Bread was there for days i guess? Comes with margarine and jam. Concentrated juice mix with water which I chose not to drink, normal coffee milk and sugar (and this is the best among all).

What a waste for such a good place.

Nonetheless, we enjoy the BBQ.

This was our 5th visit to The Pines Resort and we always feel extremely relaxed with our stay.

The best thing about this resort is that it's one of the only places in Fraser's Hill with huge balconies. The views are spectacular and the air at night is very refreshing. There is nothing like sitting out on your large balcony at night with a bottle of red wine, watching the mist come in, or as last night a beautiful lightning storm in the nearby hills. Its a peaceful place to stay and quiet. The breakfast is large enough though very Malaysian in its idea of what a hotel breakfast should be.The units all have views and they sleep up to 6 people. They have 2 bathrooms with efficient water heaters. There is a large kitchen but its not well equipped. They give you a kettle at the office and towels but there is very little else in the kitchen. On previous visits, tea and coffee sachets were provided but not now.

The downside is basically what you expect. If you come to Fraser's Hill for the same ugliness of Genting Highlands or the over-development of the Cameron Highlands then forget Fraser's Hill. It is perfectly underdeveloped and so quiet it really is only for those who don't need entertainment. The rooms are a tad tired and lack kitchen equipment and the furniture is tired but it is comfortable.
My tip is to bring your comforts from home, like wine, coffee etc and just enjoy it's unique spot.

We book one room apartment given us 3 rooms apartment. Well you must think it was a best deal, no it was not. Once we open the apartment room door, a funny smell, next try to on the lights, toilets light & dining room lights cannot on. Have to walk all the way to inform, but the response was good. Immediately their handy man were at our apartment to fix it. The apartment was not well light up even we switch on all the lights. Breakfast it was a very basic M'sian style i.e. nasi lemak & fried mee hoon taste so so. But the view/rather scenery was beautiful. If you are going for the view, then this is a good place to stay.

We stayed for 1 night. Arrived before 5pm & was told that the place have water problem. So they will refund our payment even when we chose to stay for a night. Apartment with 3 bedroom & 2 bath. The towels & bedsheets were clean & new. But the balcony & floor was dusty. Bathroom was not refurbished. Our apt was at B14, we are wiling to walk up for the view. They provided microwave, plates, glasses, spoons & few sachets of 3-in1 coffee.

Terribly run down place. The mouldy and damp smells of the beddings kept me awake. The rusty handrails makes the climb to the apartment so unpleasant. Showering is a dreaded experience as I don’t know if there’s only hot water or only cold water each time.

If you want views when you wake up and can view bird flocking around in the morning at the balcony this is the place for it.
Have the basics and I did not have high expectation so it worked for me.
Restorans' were open only for Sat and Sunday. So go elsewhere for food.

Reasonable price, 3 rooms and each room has 2 single bed so it really worth your money of you come in big group. Many complain about the old interior of the house, but for us its not a big deal. If you are lucky you can see seas of clouds in the morning from the balcony. Its walkup house so if you have issue with the stairs you can ask for the lower floor. and free parking and i even ask to to help me
post my post card as the post office was closed when we reach there. my Postcard arrive safely. The staff really friendly. We like the place so much and we extend pur stay for 1 more night

If you've watched a movie with a haunted house, that sums it up!
Stale and dusty room, broken furniture, litters on the floor and run down building.
The staff were not at all hospitable.
I wonder why is it still operating. Unliveable condition.
My impression of Fraser Hill just died with this "resort"

We booked a 3 night stay at the Pines Resort on Frasers Hill at a Visit Malaysia tourism show in Singapore. This was a Malaysian Government sponsored event. It was touted as a wonderful resort for the family. My family and I were in for a great big disappointment when we checked in late in the evening. The rooms were on the 2nd floor, needing us to lug our luggage up 3 flights of moss layered slippery stairs. The rooms were mould layered and bed backing dusty. The main door could not be locked, and windows along the corridor could not be latched. This allowed bugs and insects to fly into the room. The toilet leaked and taps trickled with brown rusty water. Luckily we had bottled water bought before accending Frasers Hill. The kitchen ammenities promised only consisted of a mish mash of 3 cups, 3 glasses, 3 spoons 1 knife, 1 bowl, 2 plates, as though they were picked up from the rubbish dump. There was only 1 electric socket in the kitchen. To boil water (using the only new item in the appartment) we had to balance the plastic water kettle on an upside down basket on a chair. The towels and bed sheets were musty and had holes in them. When I made as gentle a complaint to the hotel staff the next morning, they informed me that they were themselves frustrated, as the owners - PileCon Contractors from Singapore did not want to spend any money on refurbishments. They sympathised with us and offered another room, which upon inspection was no better then the one we had. So we immediately checked out that very morning and did not even bother to ask for a refund. It was a horror stay like out of a Freddy Krugger storey. It is a pity as the place has lots of potential, with a great view of the sunrise. Do not even think of eating in the restaurant, but if you do, check out the dirty kitchen first. We switched our stay to Shazan Resort, which was to us like Shangri-la Hotel, where rooms were spotless, staff courteous and very helpful, and food absolutely delicious. So unless you are used to staying in a dump, never book into the Pines Resort on Frasers Hill. Their pictures in the marketing tools must have been taken when they first opened, eons ago. Furthermore, shame on PileCon for having such poor standards. (do ask me for photos and video clips we made of this dump). - Humphrey C from Singapore -goldquest@yahoo.com
