Bathroom and toilets are dirty, without light, sink and with muddy floor. Bad cleaning. Nice, but very lazy staff. We stayed in a tent, which got wet bc broken rain protection. Staff is messy & unreliable. Weren’t served breakfast even though we’d paid for it. However, the beach and surroundings are beautiful - it could have been so nice, but it turned out a huge bummer.

The beach shacks are basic but you have everything you need. Being 10 steps from the beach is perfect with amazing views. The beach is very quiet with amazing sand and water. The Pondok bar also offers decent food and drinks and also can supply kayaks and other equipment for free! Everybody is very friendly and makes you feel welcome.

The beach and the view is amazing. Cabins look great from the outside. However... It seems like no maintenance has been here for 15 years. We opted for the more expensive bamboo house, which I think is the worst unit there. The ceiling is super low, the stairs are wonky and it is right next to the bar. You have to climb down to use the toilet. This, combined with way too loud music (with a very limited playlist) , a 1 inch saggy mattress making me feel like I'm 60, and position right next to the road where jeeps and motorbikes pass by led us to leave for another place. It was significantly cheaper, had aircon, hot water and a three times larger room. Also, no music.

First the pros- 1. Absolutely friendly owners and staff. It is a family run shack, and they are always hanging around near the restaurant bar and keep you company with good music and conversations. 2. Breakfast and food was quite good. 3. The stay and restaurant were right at the beach, which hardly had anyone besides the guests. So was quite awesome having the entire beach to yourself. The shack is in Juara village, on the other side of the main island, so getting there you have to be dependent on a taxi, which charges 50 for a trip. Don't expect any nightlife or even food at odd hours here. You are pretty much stranded on the tiny beach village. The rooms were spacious but with only fan, so its impossible to stay in during afternoon. Be ready to be roasted.

If you are looking for a bungalow that was build in the 70' and then nothing change since, this is the right spot. The bungalow are very simple and back to basic. In the family hut there are 4 beds. Quite old all of them. The bathroom is also rustic, so if you are a true backpacker and like the old stuff, this is the right place for you. The young staff working here, are very helpful and always with a big smile.

We were usually the only ones swimming on the whole length of the beach! When we stepped out of our room we were on the sand, we were that close! Breakfast was provided each morning and it was delicious with a great variety! Other food options were great too, usually eaten because it was delicious and so convenient. All staff members were so friendly and really chilled out. Would highly recommend to someone who doesn't mind travelling roughly 40mins from the ferry to the other side of the island, looking for a relaxing/limited tourist spot and loves the beach! Rooms were basic (wooden, cold water) however did have a fan to cool off throughout the night.

I came here during the monsoon season, so there's no turtles or snorkeling or diving. The villagers would refuse to take you out of safety concerns. However I was looking for a quiet trip away from the city with my Mom so it was sufficient. No hot water, you won't miss the air conditioning because the area is cold enough at night that we turned off the fan. Ride from Tekek to Juara where this hostel is costs RM25, not RM35 so don't get ripped off by certain people at Tekek Jetty. Do t forget to visit the Turtle Conservation Centre and the waterfalls. Please help the villagers keep the place clean.

sometimes when were travel it's difficult to feel almost at home. however, i feel almost at home when i stayed 3 day and 2 night here in Pondok Tioman. i feel like stayed at my friend house, the environment here make us forget actually strangers. i can clearly see the beach from my window and the best part early in the morning we can see sunrise. plus, other guest who stay here in Pondok Tioman also very friendly and when their see other people will say hello. meanwhile the staff inPondok Tioman also very nice and helpful. if you want anything just asked, don't be shy. chalet in Pondok Tioman have two different view , first is beach view and second is the garden view and also have dorm too. for me chalet that i stay even though just a simple chalet but at least fulfill you basic need and the price is very reasonable and cheap. if you got a chance to visit Juara Village,Tioman why not you experience by yourself to stay here in Pondok Tioman for a few days and i am not surprise if in the end of the day you will stay a bit longer than you been planed. for sure, one fine day i will coming back again because i feel like my second home here and the staff here already like my friend too.
