We wanted to stay at the Barat, but weren't lucky on the first try. Given a basic AC room with garden view, it's acceptable given that the price was discounted as there was an electricity cut. Had a basic village style breakfast before our next journey. Remember to take tonnes of photos at the bay. One of the two bars that sells alcohol on Juara beach.
Juara Rompin cancelled my booking of 3 x beach front rooms 1 week before my travel date via booking.com and offered me rooms without toilet facilities. The reason given was that my confirmed room booked have to be given those who have recently booked full board package with them. I booked the room 3 months before my travel date and it’s very unfair to cancel my room booking just because I did not take their fullboard package. What kind of reason was that?! Not only that, they cheated on me that they will give me discount on snorkeling trip and was told the snorkeling tour was fully booked when I reached the resort. What made me more angry was the transport back to Tekek jetty. They overcharged me, RM50/adult and RM25/child whereas other operator only charge RM150/return way for one 4WD! No amenities given and the blue bath towel was of poor quality. The towel not only has low absorption but would also shed as you used it. Buffet breakfast, coffee and tea run out at 8am and no topping up of food or drinks. I would not stay at this resort ever again!…
We had one night here as there was no rooms available in 'The Barat'. This place is clean / tidy and is down the other end of Juara Beach and is well worth a visit. They have a decent restaurant that serves hot tasty food and they have cold beer. If you are on a budget, give this place a go.
Transportation: Ferry will drop you at Tekek, then the resort will arrange 4WD to send you to Juara. You will need to cross the mountain as Juara is on the other side of the mountain. Room: It is a wooden room (kampung style) with modern interior design bathroom (using ceramic tiles). The room is clean but there are ants on the bed and floor as this is still a kampung style room, you can just sweep it using broom provided. No TV and no fridge but there are kettle and aircond. The bathroom is clean with hot shower. Food: They have a good cook in their resort restaurant, serving nice Chinese cooking style food. Recommended to take the full board package which include 3 meals, as the food in juara beach are pricey. Activities: There is a dive centre, Scuba Ace, if you are interested in diving or snorkeling or kayak. You can rent bicycle or motorbike to go turtle sanctuary also. Next door is a windsurfing centre, you can take a course there. There is a small night market at badminton court on Friday and Saturday. You can also go for jungle trekking or visit the waterfall. Unfortunately there was a long blackout during my stay (whole tioman) and after the power is back on, we were annoyed by the music band until 1am. This was the only bad side of my entire stay. In overall, I will give a rating 4 to this resort. Recommend to those who love to experience kampung living style but somehow still concern on the cleanliness of the room especially on bathroom/toilet. …
