We bought a 3D2N package online and despite the frustratingly incompetent ferry service, everything took a 180 flip when we arrived at the resort. If you don't mind staying in a village kind of environment, this resort will be perfect for you as it's ideal for budget trips. First of all the resort is right next to the jetty we got down from so it was a very short walk.We stayed at a deluxe quad room complete with 2 king sized beds adorned with a remarkable maroon colour scheme. Overall the toilet was clean after we got rid of the slug and cockroach, and beds were comfortable. The buffet breakfast and dinner were nothing but scrumptious, especially the BBQ dinner. The lamb, chicken and fish were nicely marinated. Resort staff were so friendly, they let us pack the remaining buffet food and have it together with our supper. Snorkelling trip went smoothly as well =] only thing is light bugs tend to gather outside the room at night. There were ants in the welcome drink as well but the staff were quick to rectify this with a new drink. However, it was a memorable stay. will definitely return to this resort =]

Booked a 3D2N package through e-mail and requested to arrange a dive trip. Booking was quite simple as it was via e-mail. The package included almost everything including the ferry fare. However was disappointed that the dive trip was not arranged so had to make a deal on my own with the dive operator at the resort. Lucky they were very friendly.

Lobby :- Suprising for a resort of this grade, there is such a thing as a lobby which also acts as a mini cafe. Board and card games are available if requested at the counter. and 2 the large screen lcd tv was ok to look at.

Parking :- Parked near the Ferry terminal complex and was charged around RM17 for 3 days. But advisable to reach early as it is quote crowded during the weekends and holidays.

Room :- The outlooks of the room was quite nice. Traditionally looking chalets on a hill which the stairs were quite steep to climb but still ok. Were give 1 queen and 1 single bed. Was not the most comfy bed, but to me acceptable to sleep considering the price paid. TV was more of a decoration as we couldnt get any channels. The view from the room was nice though. Aircon was old school model and was quite noisy but yet it served the purpose to chill the room with dB that is. A wall fan somehow made the cooling more efficiant.

Bathroom :- Bathroom was quite clean. No complains from my kidz since so it meant they were ok to be in it which was quite suprising considering they always complain about bathrooms and toilets when going to challets. The water heater had to struggle in the morning coz the water supply was chilling since it was taken from th hills.

View :- View was quite nice considering our room was on a hill and facing the sea. Only down factor was the electrical line was crossing the view.

Food :- The package included breakfast, lunch, dinner/bbq dinner and supper. Though not great, but was acceptable and quite pleasurable to eat. The

Remarks :- For families, yes you might want to consider this place as it's quite safe and convinience. But for divers, you might want to really arrange with the dive centre first before making arrangement with the resort since they don't communicate well. The Dive cetre staffs seems to be more friendlier than the resort staffs. Don't take the hassle to bring your own supplies of food since there is a shop nearby and the price is just a little bit above the market price. But as for souviniers, suprisingly like t-shirts and all, the shops at the Ferry Terminal complex is cheaper that the ones on the island.

p/s :- Don't worry about a grave right in front of the Snorkeling Gear rental shop. Nothing happened during my stay and also asked my other friends and families who stayed here. They did not even notive there was a grave.

There were 9 adults, 3 toddlers and a baby with us. We booked 4 rooms - 1 quad deluxe, 2 triple deluxe and 1 twin deluxe.

What we love:

1. Room
Very spacious - great for kids
Easy to clean floor - broom is provided (superb to clean the sand)
Bathroom - with hot shower AND a huge pail - again great for kids
Awesome view

2. Swimming pool
This was a pleasant surprise for us as it was not listed in their website. It's new and the waddling pool is still under construction but it was really nice to have a dip in one.

3. Food
All the food provided was superb.

4. Coway
It makes it easy to have clean drinking water without having to spend on it.

5. Snorkeling trip
It was great even with the kids. We had a small boat for our group, and follow through all the 4 stops which were amazing.

6. Services
The staff were very helpful and friendly.

7. Surrounding
Very near the jetty, lots of local stalls selling hot food, groceries and gifts. We took a stroll along the area and met with the locals. Very 'kampung'-like atmosphere with the local kids running around playing and cycling in between tourists and tight-knit houses. The resort area is also well-kempt. The beach is also great.

What can be improved:

1. Timing of the ferry
We took a ferry from Tg Gemok as advised by the hotel staff. There were only 2 timing to the island - 11am and 4.30pm. The ferry ride was only 1 hr 45 mins. However going back to the mainland has only 1 timing - 9am! We had to be at the jetty as early as 8am. So much for paying a 3d2n stay - more like 2d2n stay to us. The ride to mainland took almost 3 hrs as the ferry stopped for a few times at other jettys before travelling back to Tg Gemok - we already need to leave the resort early and now spent so much time in the ferry inatead.. We chose Tg Gemok instead of Mersing because we were told that there's a risk of a long waiting time at the jetty since other ferry are also boarded by the locals. Having to wait under the sun for hours with toddlers and a baby wont be a good option. Hopefully the management can arrange extra timings for the ferry ride.

2. Steps to the room
The route to our rooms were quite a climb - which is ok since the room had great views. However to cater for the elderly and mothers who carry babies/kids maybe the management can add smaller steps in between the giant steps leading to the rooms.

Overall the trip and the resort were awesome - better than what we anticipated. I really reccommend this resort for those who are seeking a simple holiday trip to Tioman Island. Considering this is not a 4-5 star hotel, it's services are superb. We would definitely come back to Sunbeach Resort. =)

this resort is in Genting of tioman...and genting itself is a very sad affair with a poor beach scarred by an unsightly, crumbling concrete beach-protection and one very dirty "restaurant"/eatery.

and the room condition of this resort is damn poor...the aircon in the room was like 100 years old...you can even feel the a little bit wind come out from it>.<'''...and i try to speak with the staff about the aircon in my room maybe "rosak"...they just try to ignored me and their attitude was quite rude (i felt they wanna kill me that time...i really do...@.@...but wat can i do??...i'm in "their" island...i cant do anything also)...
this is the worst resort i ever met...regretted to stay in this resort....
so my advise to everyone is DON'T EVER GO THERE...
**but im quite shock about the review at here...why still gt ppl comment about this resort is good to stay...@.@...i really hv no idea...(maybe they create the fake acc to write themselves about the review)...for me...this resort is NOT worth for money that we are paying. Full dissapointment....

Traveled in a group with several families. We liked Tioman very much, but wished we had stayed in a different resort instead.

We were promised BBQ on our 2nd night, so we bought plenty of cooked lobsters and other dishes from Rompin for lunch and dinner for night #1 - only to be told at a last minute that our BBQ will be served on night #1 to accommodate a bunch of divers' change of schedule. Not only that we weren't able to finish the lobsters and most if it went to waste, the BBQ was so average that there was no seafood menu at all. The kind of BBQ you can just make at your home - sausages, chickens, lamb.

The snorkeling package was lame. Basically we only visited ONE snorkeling point which was at Rengis - and we spent the remaining 3 hours of the trip at Marine Park with a packed lunch, and then to Tekek for some duty free shopping. Nothing interesting. Normally at other beaches, one day island-hopping will end at 4, with Sun Beach package, we were back at the resort at 1pm - not knowing what else to do. Most of the times during the trip, we were left alone with our groups. The guides were busy chatting with other guides to even noticed we were bored,

Went back to our rooms feeling pretty disappointed. It was almost 2.30pm. Determined to make the most out of our stay, we approached the reception and asked for banana boat rental. Well, despite the flashy poster they put upfront listing down all activities they supposedly offered, there was no banana boat. So we asked for kayak instead - and again, the person in charged for the kayak was on lunch break so no kayak for us.

Furious, we walked all the way to the next kampong to find something to do. Luckily, Impiana Inn has kayak and they gave us extra time kayaking with standard price of an hour.

Sun Beach really need to work on their hospitality. Shoulder season is not an excuse for them to be snobbish. Frankly I've had better services in Mabul despite most of the accommodation are for budget travelers. They have the most basic facilities but they made sure their guests had an amazing experience. SunBeach might want to learn a thing or two from them.

Travelled as 2 couples. Took package from msia tour. We took this resort as it's the the initial booking is fully booked. Our rooms are 11a/11b. Deluxe room.

The rooms are up the steep stairs or slope. (theres 2 ways to go up). Followed by high stairs which can be quite tiring especially after the steep slope. So those with elderly or with leg problems, i suggest you take the junior suite which is just beside the recep.
Room is okay. Wooden small hut which is quite cute when seen from afar. Has 1 queen bed and 1 single bed. Toilet is the best of the whole hut, cause it's fully renovated. My shower pressure was quite soft compared to my friend room. But it's fine. I used the cold water instead from the tap which is very refreshing after a long day there. But avoid it in the morning, too cold. They only give 2 towels, very thin towels. Exchange the towel yourself at the recep for a new ones. There's no housekeeping done there, so help yourself to the broom in d room. 😂 Do not leave foods in the open. (lots n lots of ants)
I don't have issue with mosquitos there but i brought the insect repellent anyways.
I think they have a power shutdown at certain timings, as i woke up around 4am and aircon is off. They had a funny pink bedsheets which i suggest you give it a good spanking before lying down. I saw a few lizard droppings on the end of the beds.

We went swimming in the sea at the other side of Sun Beach. Quite clear water, can see the fishes. But please put on aqua shoe, i suffered cuts from the sharp rocks. There's also few beautiful corals to look at. Rent the life jackets and snorkel gear to enjoy the view there.

Do check out the stalls along the jetty, there's one really delicious stall for pratas and nasi goreng kampung. (Pak lang) i think. We also took a walk on the right side of the resort, pass by other resorts. Stop by the stalls along the way for brunch. Meet with locals.

Transportation is a big headache to get there. The timings for the bus and ferry is just preposterous. Coming from Sg. Bus timing is at 645 am only. Ferry is 12pm at Tg gemok. We reached there just in time. If missed, have to go back to mersing ferry terminal. Coming back is also another issue. Obviously there are other timings, but this resort only cater for 9am ferry only to Tg gemok. Which meant we must be at the terminal at 8am. So we asked the resort for other timings and a direct ferry to mersing.(as our bus is at mersing not Tg gemok) They said if we want, we could take the 11am ferry but at your own risk. Saying locals also just board the ferry without prior booking, just need to buy the tickeds on board. So we took the chance and took that and fortunately, they accepted our tickets without having to pay. Thank goodness.
Then, our bus is at 5pm. (again no other timings) Ferry ride is about 2 hours, which leaves us with ample time to doing nothing with the hot weather until times up. Bus and ferry coordination is just not there. And I don't like the fact that i wasted 3 hours. I would have reached Sg if I didn't have to wait.

This is a malay operating resort. All the facilities are very basic. Food is the average malay food including the bbq dinner. Accommodation is also the basic room with air cond. However the cleanliness still acceptable. The service is just so- so only. For the price of about rm600/pax for 3 days 2 nights including food, snorkeling trip and ferry fare, it is consider very cheap.

Advice , please book it directly from the resort, if you book through any of the agent, the agent will mark up the price about rm100. What they did was just make a phone call to book the room for you, after u pay the deposit, they might call you saying that the room is not available and simply change to another room for u, then either you forfeit the deposit or just get with the second best option.

Me and my hubby stayed there to celebrate his birthday and i specialy ask the staff to do some arrangements and WOW.. Its a candle light dinner by the beach. My Hubby was so happy with arrangements and I was amazed with the staff friendliness and they were so helpful. We took 4d3n package and extend 1 more day.. We had a small welcome drink on the day we arrived and the room is not so bad.. we didnt have high expectations coz we know what we expect on an island. They also have honeymoon package. Their beach bar was great with only 1 staff and he was humble and i can say superman coz he really entertain us even whn its bz.
Once again thanks to all Sun Beach Resort Staff.. We will definitely go there again..

We (2 couples) settled for Deluxe room full board package (room no. 11A & 11B) when our initial booking at other resort was fully booked. Just a basic room with basic needs which i believe can be better. We got both fan & aircon in our room. Our room AC was malfunctioning when we arrived and the maintenance fixed it in no time. Good service.

Toilet is newly renovated. Water pressure was strong and good. Electric kettle is provided but with no complimentary coffee/tea. Towels provided are very thin and old but good water absorbtion. I suggest u bring yr own towel for island hopping as they do not provide u any beach towel. NO ROOM SERVICE. We need to personally bring our used towel to the reception the next day in exchange for new ones. We spotted alot of ants on dressing table. Staff were quite helpful.

Food were good too. Bbq is so-so. Probably it was just our luck that the food tastes too salty and not favorable. Staff will come to your room if u're late for your meals. Haha. I like that actually. We feel asleep on the evening we supposed to have our bbq. Staff came knocking our room door and remind us to have our bbq dinner.

Snorkelling was awesome compared to what being offered at Paya Resort. We had a great time snorkel at total of 4 points. Our favourite is at Pasir Panjang Beach where we had our provided packed lunch. The water was super clear and icy blue and clean! A trip to duty free shopping was included too. Nothing much to shop though.

Our package includes return ferry to Tanjong Gemok and we were scheduled an early return ferry at 9am which we have to be at the jetty by 8am. We are from Singapore and our one and only bus back to Singapore is at 5pm. I requested for a later ferry but was told a later ferry will be at 11am (10am at jetty) to Mersing which is better as our bus pick up will be at Mersing.

Staff aren't helping much on this as they claimed that they're unable to coordinate this with ferry operator which i find it's a crap. The only transfer for guests to the island is only by ferry and why can't they make the neccessary arrangement for the convenience of their now and future guests? They informed us that most probably our existing ferry ticket will not be accepted and have to pay for new tickets.

We gambled and board on 11am ferry and fortunately they accepted our tickets :)
