Ideal resort to "Relax n Re-Live! 🤩" I stayed in family beach villa with my family of 4 (with 2 kids) and really enjoyed this resort. Ideal for those who wants to be away from city life and need a peaceful stay with nature! The resort is located between beautiful mountain 🏔️ and stunning bluewater sea with whitesands! 🏖️🏝️🏕️ Plus Points: 1) Private location with stunning mountain view & blue sea at your doorsteps 🚤🏖️🏝️🏕️⛰️ 2) Friendly staffs - especially Mr. Surian (the ops manager), the Lady head chef and her staffs 👍🏻🤩 3) Clean rooms 4) Privacy - private beach, infinity pool 5) No WiFi in the room (plus point for me) Minus Points: 1) Lack of recreational activities (understand that they are still reinstating from COVID shutdown) 2) AdventureWithJohn sea sports and activities are disappointing in all aspects!!! They are either ridiculously expensive or the staff don't know what do they offer ( Ex1: one of the staff mentioned that kayaking is available for rent in the morning, I prepared with my son to go for kayaking, he said all their paddle were broken! 😳 Ruined my plans for the day 😡😠. Ex 2: For 10 mins oneway boat ride they charge RM350, while others offer 4 times cheaper) 3) Can improve breakfast 🥐🍳 options…
The location of this resort is absolutely stunning and it made for a wonderful experience. The beach cabin was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was simple, but definitely adequate. It was served in the restaurant with an amazing view on the ocean. We also went to this restaurant for dinner and had some really nice food there. The staff was very friendly and the pickup service with the boat was quite special. Being welcomed by one of the staff members and have a welcome drink ready, was so nice. Also on departure, a staff member went with you and the luggage was handled for you. It is all about the expectations though. There are some small glitches here and there and you can see that they are recovering from the pandemic, so not everything is up to speed yet. But hey, you are on a tropical island with amazing views and a beautiful beach. Sometimes there is a temporary shortage, but if the red guave juice is not available, you take the green one. And if the Wi-Fi signal is not strong enough, you go to the reception area to sit there for your internet access. For us, this all added to the charm and we truly enjoyed our time there.…
Beautiful place, best view, turquoise clear water, you could see fishes swimming and biting your fingers just at the water edge, mountain view as backdrop.. Most importantly, very private and feels so exclusive, considering the rate is not that exorbitantly priced.. Ofcourse since it's on a private island, you have to expect some setbacks i.e restaurants understaff and food selection is not wide but for those who are there just to chillax and dont expect to be treated like lords, but the beautiful serene peaceful private place, makes you feel like one, is the best place.. This is a secluded side of the island hence for those who travel with small kids, better bring snacks and ensure you have your meds, first aid kit and toiletries ready with you..
Had a 3D 2N stay with 9 buddies in this one of the best resort in Tioman that you should not miss. In comparative to our previous trip stay at Berjaya resort which Tunamaya Resort was so much better with their services and food quality that served after the pandemic. Although there are shortage of staffing in hospitality trade now but you could still see daily familiar faces smiling brightly to all guests in the resort that warmed and welcome our stay. I have to said they were very generous with the foods portioning with wide varieties served and we did not have to wait more than half an hour for our meals to be served. Thanks to Chef Eddie and his team for taking good care of us. The resort located in a beautiful island that had stunning mountains view behind and clear crystal sea in front of our rooms with baby sharking swimming waving to us. As pictures shown in their website, resort facility are well maintained, rooms are cleaned, bed was comfortable like 5 stars stay. Is like Heaven on earth! We are there for our diving trip for 2 days, had engaged NDL diver Centre in the resort with John. I would said our 1st dive day was shore dive as dive sites were shallow and not much attraction of corals/ fishes at all. Luckily, on the 2nd days we managed to get to 2 beautiful sites but would said the visibility on the day was not perfect, however, we did have a great dive. I m surprised to see clean and new BCD and regulators that they had provided. John and his 2 diver trainees, Taki and Mega are very helpful and friendly. John has shared some good tips in buoyancy for our dive as we are still pretty new in our skills. Mega had his underwater camera for us to capture nice beautiful pictures with all sea creatures. We will definitely coming back to Tunamaya Resort again for sure. Kudos to the few staffs serving us diligently with passion, they are Chef Eddie & team, Diana from Front Desk, Ika, Dixon and ALin from F&B team and not forgetting some of them whom I had lost count of names that served all of us in Tunamaya. We know shorthanded is tough, providing good services to all guests are even tougher during short handed. Fighting on till we will be back to see you all again. Thanks for having us and leaving with memorable stay in your resort.…
Had a 3D 2N stay , i understand that it is post pandemic now , i suggest that the resort hire more people to accommodate the incoming influx of guest. 1) Room service - Horrible , had to remind them constantly to clean the room. And the sheets of the beds were only made and changed every other day ( not daily ) ( apparently there is only 3 people working and it is difficult ) 2) Food - The menu and the waiting duration for the food at the resort café is ridiculous. The staff seemed over whelmed with the number of people and influx of orders. Apart from these 2 short comings - the location and the resort facility itself is good. will definitely consider another trip there. hopefully the food and room service issue is sorted.
This is an amazing location with a long row of small villas along the beach, tucked in under the mountain. One row in front, one row behind with gardens. Most of the villas in front are split units, with one unit having a large balcony towards the seafront and the other one towards the garden but with a small door towards the sea. We had the latter as seafront were fully booked but it was beautiful and we woke up with an open door to the ocean. Similarly, the common facilities are quite decent with both a small beach (quite rocky at low tide, but beautiful at high tide) and a large pool. So all good? Going back? Hardly... I read some of the reviews here before going, but thought "it cannot be that bad..." It was. The dinner service was what most people in the restaurant industry would call a clusterf***. A small menu, which should be manageable but... * Most guest (I mean 60%) complained that they had to wait for an hour for their food * Even simple dishes like a burger (pre-made beef) took long time despite all ingredients being very mise en place * Waitresses kept serving the wrong food to the wrong table, running around trying to figure out who ordered what * When food came, the table had yet to be set With at least 12 staff in kitchen/serving, the population at the resort should be a breeze to serve, but lacking all organisation, Tunamaya completely failed. On the return boat, all other guests had complaints about service.…
Heaven on earth! Rooms were clean and neat! Beach was so beautiful and serene, not forgetting that the Mountain view was breathtaking. It’s truly heaven on earth. Getting there was quite a journey but trust me it’s all worth it! Diana, one of hotel staffs was one of the main highlight as well! 2 days before checking in, she called to check on our ferry schedule, gave us tips as well to ensure that our journey will be smooth sailing. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the warm hotel staffs. The island was really safe! It was so safe that We even left our doors unlocked while hanging out by the beach. We went on a 2 hours hike to Asah waterfall on the second day. Highly recommended for explorers! Even though the journey was long but it didn’t feel like it because the scenery along the hike was beyond beautiful, no words can describe how I truly felt during the hike. Not forgetting the food was AWESOME! We truly enjoyed every meal and always looking forward to the next meal. Seafood BBQ is a must try! We went for a short exploration by the beach in the night to look for fishes. We spotted fishes swimming near the shore! On the last day, we were so reluctant to leave but we had to get back to mainland. Unfortunately the waves were too strong for us to leave in the morning, as monsoon is approaching. We missed our ferry because we couldn’t leave the island. Diana and the crew were so helpful and she took the extra mile to arrange a private speedboat to get us back to mainland when the waves are calmer in the afternoon. The crews sent us all the way to the dock when we were leaving and ensuring everyone is safe and sound. They even apologised for the inconvenience caused when it’s not even their fault. I definitely recommend this resort to anyone who’s looking to have a nice and peaceful getaway. It’s suitable for solo, couples, friends and even big families gathering. I am definitely coming back here again! Thank you so much for such a memorable experience Tunamaya!…
We four friends booked a 3D2N package 3months ago. booked 2rooms in the same package. unfortunately, we got a room far from each other but it's still acceptable as they said the rooms are running full. We waited for the pickup up for almost an hour plus despite the pick up time which has been informed earlier. and the sales manager Sudha keep gives up empty promises by saying another 5min then 15min which really disappointed the way she handles this. as a sales manager I hope she needs to be more professional in handling customer. It would be better if she could check locally before simply replying to us and make us waited at the hot sun for long. After we show our dissatisfaction, then only she explains that we missed the earlier boat. Actually we never missed it but it was wrongly communicated to us! I hope she should learn to say sorry and be transparent with the customer so we can feel the hospitality. I would never want to have any business with this kind of salesperson. even how cheap the product is! 2nd I would like to talk about the restaurants. It was a disaster .. the food was horrible and waited for an hour for the western breakfast. they should have more menu options. Lunch & Dinner are the same menus that come with 4-5 options only. this resort is very private and there is no option for you to eat outside. no chili source, chicken is not fresh, very hard and the same goes to the fish. simple french fries were soggy. they don't have any mini-marts .. so we can't even get any snacks. They need a major revamp on their restaurant and food options. F&B is totally a disaster. 3rd I would like to thank Mr. Subra the only person who handles everything with so much patience. from check-in, till maintenance he was handling. He even serves food. this poor guy is the one man who handles everything to keep the guest comfortable. Management needs to educate your sales manager to be more polite and a way to handle the customer and treasure the manager like Mr. Subra who puts a lot of effort to run the show!…
Tunamaya is abt 30mins boat ride from Genting jetty. These hotel provides prompt & efficient pick up upon arrival. The check-in was a breeze & staff are very friendly. The entire place is set in a private enclosure & such a winderful place for a private retreat. Just a few metres away frim the shires, you could snorkel & watch beautiful fish. The accommodation is well designed and set apart from each other in good distance. The credit should go to the Manager, Mr Subra who is most attentive & accommodating. He watches over EVERYTHING! Yes everything. Poor guy is working his butt to the core from morning to late night. There are areas they can improve. From the time they take your order till the food arrives to your table, there seems to confusion. I think they are used to buffet setting & now a bit disorganised with ala carte menu. We even waited 2 hours for our pizza! Room serives too lack commitment. The beds are not done properly & we need to remind them to refill the coffee/tea & the toiletries. The verandas were not cleaned for a very long time. The polyprop chairs were stained and does not reflect the hotel settings. The first impression we got dwindled with these small issues. The cooks need to be creative & accommodate minor adjustment. There’s no kids menu & they are oblivious for simple request for chicken porridge for a 2 yr old! If you’re a vegetarian/vegan, you need to be very calm as choices are limited. Despite these, Mr Subra is relentlessly trying his BEST to accede customers requirement. He definitely needs a better team at housekeeping, maintenance & at the kitchen. The owners need to step up their effort to support Mr Subra to take Tunamaya to the next pedestal. …
I was there for 4D3N, room and other facilities was GREAT, BBQ was GREAT, Staff were friendly. However, major improvement required for breakfast and other ala carte menu. I was also not quite happy with the housekeeping. It was not done thoroughly as compared to other resorts i have stayed at. Other than that great environment to stay if you are going to Tioman.
