As an ex trip advisor regional officer, I should give my honest opinion about this hotel. 2 weeks before I arrive, been communicating with the reservation officer ms Erliana ( I think that’s how it’s spelled). Almost every other day I was informing the preparation for our arrival as well beach side dinner and etc. It was initially good as the hotel speed boat arrived earlier and waited for us at the kg genting jetty so it just took like 10 min to board the hotel boat. Along the journey to the hotel I saw the whole shore was contaminated with diesel! As soon as I arrive to the hotel, The check in was ok. We had to carry our own bags to the room but it’s ok managed to. We booked 2 rooms. One was ok but the toilet sink was clogged and another one room- the air conditioner not…
We booked a 6 day family of 5 trip to this resort and hoped to be treated to a joyous experience of Malaysian culinary delights and beautiful snorkelling. We paid circa £300 sterling a night, and left after 1 night and the refuse to give a refund. This resort is the worst I have stayed at anywhere on Earth. 1. Grossly understaffed. Although staff we nice, their hands were tied. 2. Truly appalling food quality...see the £300 a night “ala carte” breakfast. Also no vegetarian option in the menu, we were however offered a salad. There were also food inspectors there at the time. 3. Zero WiFi or 3G connectivity. I understand that this is a remote location and a getaway but WiFi was promised in lobby and it simply did not work. The 1 computer provided that could work also did not…
It was a great stay and overall experience in Tunamaya. We had an exemplified vacation in this peaceful and calm hotel. Staff from boat transfers, reception, room service, F&B, kitchen, the mangers .... all were very enthusiastic and welcoming. It is a 5 stars service. Villa is big and clean. Balcony with nature view is really what I like♥️ The response rate to your request is really fast. The beach is very clean, white sand... it has stone and corals around but you will see how the hotel tried their best to remove those big stones if you walk through other parts of the beach (other hotels), tunamaya is way better. Special thanks to Ayu, Arnita, Prashant, Chef David (Foods are really nice! Try their sets, Rendang and Nasi Lemak are my fave... and Siti. Lovely stay ♥️♥️♥️🙏🏻
The hotels is beautifully located and will offer transport to the hotel. Once you are there you are imprisoned: transport is only possible by boat, but costs are high. This was the same all over the island. This is really a misunderstanding about developing an honest tourism. We adored the island and its nature but left with a bad feeling about this very commercial approach.
The seafood price displayed was misleading and confusing .They actual pricey items wasnt display on the price board and could lead you to pay a very high price for a lame bbq serving .Eg. The displayed price showing tiger prawn priced at 130/kg ,however they didnt sell any tiger prawn there were only KING tiger prawns available .The staff didnt explain the actual price of King Tiger Prawn was RM350/kg instead he just weigh them .
