This place to stay is THE BEST. The woman that runs the place, Sue, is heart warming as if you go out for the day, she is there welcoming you back. If you have any queries about Tioman Island or anything she is very knowledgeable and happy to help. The chalets are very clean and pretty 😍. Some of the rooms provide sofa beds for children or extra people as the room only has one permanent double bed. All of them are facing the beautiful sea and some of them have steps down to the shore. On the balcony there are put up- able hammocks that you can lie in and watch the sunset or people playing on the beach. Sue, the owner, has a water filter for you to have clean, drinkable water. She doesn't believe in plastic bottles so she gives each person a clean, metal bottle to fill with water 💧. Sue also has two bikes to lend to get around the island.Overall, I would strongly recommend staying here at Bamboo Hill Chalets as it is a lovely place to stay. …
Paradise.. I don't even want to review as maybe harder to get a chalet .. just amazing place kampung chic.. little less creature comforts but cooled down by the sea breeze..Reading in a hammock listening to the sounds of the sea.. truly best place to unwind..
A quiet, gorgeous corner of a quiet, gorgeous community. Go to sleep to the sounds of the ocean, swim almost to/from your front door. Staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Local area is calm and quiet, but you can still get anything you really need either in ABC or nearby Tekek.
Bamboo Hill embraces the true spirit of 'Rest, Retreat, Recover'. Waking up to the sound of morning waves. Napping in a swinging hammock under the sky. Falling asleep with the soothing sea breeze. I truly enjoy every moments of solitude during the 4D3N stay here. Thank you Sue and family for making my short stay an unforgettable one.
Spent our third short vacation at Bamboo Hill. Considering we were the first guests for several months, Sue the proprietor has kept on top of the maintenance. The ocean front chalets are simple, well appointed, clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning but you won’t need it even in the hottest months as the sea breezes are perfect. There are several nearby restaurants to get breakfast, lunch and dinner but many are still closed due to the pandemic. Things will get busy quickly now that the interstate borders are open. Behind the property is a fantastic jungle walk to a deserted beach. There is a good dive school 5 minutes walk away and Sue can arrange fishing trips with pickups from the beach. On our fishing trip we caught a bucket load of fish which was cleaned and barbecued by Sue’s family. Sue is so well organised and nothing is too much trouble. She helps with organising everything you want to do. Thanks for making our short break so enjoyable. M&Y…
Where do I even start? Bamboo Hill Chalet is one of the best places to stay in Tioman. Located at the edge of ABC village, it is blessed with the most amazing location with stunning views of the ocean. Now, you do not come to Bamboo Hill to capture the best Instagram photo. If that is your intention, then please stay else where. Bamboo Hill is meant for those that needs an escape from reality and a recharge in life. The rooms are perfect; clean, simple, rustic and inviting. The cherry on top is lovely Sue, the manager. Sue has been nothing but amazing and please have a conversation with her! There’s something about this place that makes you wana stay, forever. I wish I could. I left feeling enlightened. Will be back. Z.
Have been back three times. We always enjoy our time at Bamboo Hill Chalets. The rooms are kept very clean. Host Sue is super helpful. The island has had a change of council cleaning contractors - who are doing a far better job. The beaches and public spaces are cleaned daily - a vast improvement.
Stayed here fr a couple of days... Loved the environment, people and how much emphasis is given to conserve nature. Lovely view by the beach. Clean and well maintained rooms. So much of dedication and love for the place and nature... Hats off to Sue and family! Will definitely return to this sanctuary.
After visiting 5 Malaysian islands this summer and staying in 6 different places, this was by far our favourite stay! We had such an incredible stay and felt so welcome and at ease with Sue and Waari. The room was clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the beach and huge doors that opened at the side of the room next the jungle and at the front to the ocean. Everything was wooden and painted pale blue just like a beach chalet should be. Sue was chatty and friendly to us every day and it was interesting hearing about her life. Waari was so relaxed and kind; he helped us carry our luggage to and from the boat and adjust the bike seats. Nothing was ever too much trouble or an inconvenience. This is the perfect place to stay to fit in some jungle walks, dives and snorkels or equally to just do absolutely nothing but lie on the beach all day. Thank you for giving us such a memorable trip. We want to return at the end of October! …
My wife, Alison, and I stayed in one of Sue's chalets at the north end of the bay at Kampung Air Batang. Very quiet and peaceful, all you hear is the sea! A snorkelling trip to Coral Island with our guide Jai was a great day out, especially the stopover at Monkey Bay. Bicycles are available for a gentle cycle to Tekek where, if you are so inclined, you can but some duty free beers, wines and spirits! The hammocks on the balcony were a real treat! Great to catch up on those books you've been meaning to read! A very special place and a great holiday! Thank you Sue, Wari, Julie-Anna and Ben!
