Hi katefleetwood, Yes, as mentioned by bdube the armed security are still on the rig.
Definitely staying. Made booking and everything. I was going to email this, but posting it here as others may be interested to see answer too. On our non dive day (24hrs before flight) I am really interested in learning some more about/seeing the Bajau Laut (Sea Gypsies). I know I can do this from Semporna by walking to their land-based homes, although it is frowned upon as they understandably do not like intrusion by tourists. In order to see the people who are still living at sea, I found little information online other than that I need a boat around Mabul. I guess my question is do we pass by their sea based living areas to and from dive sites and as we travel around the area for our dives, or is booking a special trip necessary, or even possible? If it is possible, do you know anywhere/can you arrange trips for guests who want to learn more about their unique culture and take some photographs?
