The hotel promises more than it delivers. We were annoyed by the hotel's advertising film, which was shown in the cinema next door and portrayed the hotel as a luxurious experience with fine dining (amusing: in the advertising film, the name "Elopura" was pronounced in a whispered British English, which stuck in our heads for days). The film's portrayal has little to do with reality: it rained into our first room (with a sea view) and the floor was wet. At least we were quickly given a new room. In both rooms, the bath towels had stains and the rooms were poorly maintained and not particularly clean. Since European two-pin plugs didn't work (unlike in other hotels in Malaysia), the sales manager promised us that she would bring an adapter the next day. That never happened, or rather it was a split plug, but that didn't work either. At reception we were told that tickets for buses to KK could be bought from 6 a.m. at the local bus station - we went there at 7 a.m., the bus company doesn't open until 8:30 a.m. and so we had to go there twice. There is a gym on the top floor (without air conditioning (only fans), i.e. hardly usable during the day) that security has to open. Equipment is acceptable, but material quality is not good. Before exercising you have to register at reception. The bigger problem: next to the treadmill, underneath numerous cables, there was a large puddle of water in which the cables were "bathing". We therefore decided not to use the treadmill. Breakfast had a large selection, but the quality of the food was not particularly high. Vegetarians don't have it easy here. You can choose between canned beans (taste like Heinz) and white toast with butter and artificially colored jam (e.g. kiwi in bright green). There are also cold fried eggs or omelettes (fresh). Alternatives to western breakfast are available, provided you like fish or meat or can make do with white rice. In short: we left early. For Europeans, we would recommend the Sabah or Sandakan hotel in Sandakan. At the “Elopura” everyone tried very hard, but it was not a three-star experience.
Positive: • The reception really tried hard and was friendly. • The LFS multiplex cinema on the eleventh floor in the mall right next door saved our stay. • The best food in Sandakan was at Balin Rooftop Garden & Bar (unfortunately western food) and at the Sandakan Hotel, if you let the chefs prepare the food directly - both restaurants are within walking distance.

Conveniently located hotel in the heart of Sandakan. Right next to the best mall and many restaurants. Rooms are a bit small but have all the necessities. Music was playing outside until 10pm and there are people out until late. Breakfast is not really worth it for the price, go instead to cafe San Dan Gen for fresh smoothies, pastry, omelettes and French toast.

Conveniently located opposite of Harbour Mall, the biggest shopping centre of Sandakan, there are plenty of eateries / local shopping opportunities nearby, all within walking distance of this hotel.
Nevertheless, I personally thought that the rooms were small and felt a little unkempt. Breakfast was served at ground floor facing the sea but the choices were rather limited. Surroundings can be a little noisy at night if you are a light sleeper as well.
Bathroom was again rather small, not to mention that the water pressure was really low.
Overall an average stay. If you travel without personal transport then this hotel might be attractive, otherwise I believe that there are better alternatives around.

Central in the main town, great base for day tours to the parks/sanctuary/River.
Few options for food along the waterfront. Sandakan seems a quiet town with a few tourists but mainly local (v friendly) population, clearly a short stop/jump off spot.
Options for 'drinks' are few - this is a no alcohol establishment, but there is a roof bar 3 mins walk for an evening beverage (the baling Hotel roof).
Very clean..comfy bed, great aircon and hot shower. For the price the included breakfast had fresh fruits, to order omelets /eggs/ rice/ noodles and toast. No complaints!!!

We stayed here for one night In between tours and before going into the forest on a wildlife adventure, having flown ourselves into Sandakan airport from KK. We assumed this was the best available offering in town as the options are quite limited. I do not recommend this hotel. The rooms are damp, it smells bad, it’s mouldy, the breakfast is a total tragedy and it is in the centre of a very busy area. Hotel Sandakan where we also frequented for a meal, seems better. Sandakan generally is not well suited to tourists, you need no time here and if you are here for a tour, come prepared. There is a laundrette nearby which was quite useful for our travels.

As Sandakan has limited accommodation option, Elopura is not a bad choice. Located in the central just in front of the shopping mall. Room is basic but clean, we had a seaview room and it is good. It can be very noisy at night as the live band performance in the seaside until midnight. Breakfast is a joke, I recommend you to choose a local cafe to have breakfast in town. By considering the room rate, I have no complain, I just get what I paid for.

There is a taxi booth inside the airport to get a ticket for the 30 minute drive to the hotel. The hotel does not serve alcohol but there is the Harbour Bistro Lounge (Bistro 88) south west along the front about 100m where you can get a beer and good food. There is also Balin Roofgarden Bistro and Bar which serves good food and lots of drinks. This bar is on the 7th floor up a lift in a plain building. I will add a picture of the front of the building so you can find it. The coffee and soup at breakfast were look warm. You need to ask the staff to add more meths to the burners underneath.

This hotel is very conveniently located. Very near to the market so that our shopping hauls can be directly sent to the hotel. Harbour Mall is just across the square (eventho nothing much in this mall, but it's reassuring to know that any basic needs are within reach). At night, we walked around the area to see the local market where the sell all the fresh vegies and fruits.

Okay hotel in the centre of town. It has a cute restaurant beside it served by food trucks that allowed us to have a late dinner after a delayed flight. Some noise from other guests and the road overnight. Basic but did the trick before heading off to our eco tour.

Friendly and welcoming check in staff. The hotel isn’t the easiest place to reach by road as it’s very congested.
I had a sea view room which has great views but the room itself was standard. Tv is good that it has Netflix (must have a subscription) & YouTube you can watch, I didn’t browse the tv channels on this occasion. The shower is powerful when on cold but if you turn it to hot the shower barely even dribbles out which was very very frustrating.
The bed is comfy and the harbour shopping mall is right opposite the hotel and nearby there is plenty of food options from Asian to western.
They have security on the door at all times which give you a sense of safety
overall It was a good place to stay

Dear jacksparrow012,
We provide complimentary parking at the mall's parking space next door for all our in-house guests. We strongly advice against parking at the piazza area in front of the hotel as this would result in summons issued by the city council.
Warmest regards,
Anya
