we recently stayed in this marvelous resort. on the first day after arrival and lunch we went on the bootcruise where we saw many animals like the pygmy elephants, uran utans, snakes, many birds and many other kinds of monkeys. then after walking back up to the top, yes the resort is the only in the kinabatanganregion on top of a 100 meter high hill wich u can reach with a staircase all the way through the jungle, we took a shower in the very spacious and clean rooms with a small but well designed bathroom. for a change i could standup straight under the showerhead because it was placed high enough en the beds are costummade so even tall people like me dont have to sleep with the feet outside the bed like anywhere else in malaysia. the food is more like in a 5 star restaurant

We had a wonderful stay at the Last Frontier. It is located on top of a hill with a beautiful view over the forest and the river. The evening river cruise is very nice - we saw proboscis monkeys, orang-utans, and lots of smaller wildlife and birds. There are also some good hiking options. Gert and Jason are very friendly hosts who give a lot of special attention to the guests. We were there with only two other guests so it was quite a personal experience. The rooms are large and very comfortable, with modern style bathrooms. The only disadvantage is that insulation is not great so you can hear your neighbours quite well. Jason is a great cook who kept surprising us, e.g. with his delicious breakfast creation of pancakes with banana, cream, and caramel sauce. Great value

The last frontier is up on a hill in the jungle of Borneo. It takes about 500 steps on a wooden stairway to reach the place. And the view over the jungle is excellent. The owners,Jason & Gert, are very friendly and Jason is a great cook. If you're lucky and get up early, you'll see some monkey's pass by in the tree's right in front of your room. If your not a morning person, no worries, you'll spot a bunch of monkey's and lot's of other wild animals on the evening boat trips. Big rooms, great shower and western size beds. This will probably be the only time you'll sleep with your feet IN the bed in Malaysia. Boeboen (the guide) is a true talent when it comes to spotting animals. In the evening, all kinds of grashoppers, moths and other bugs are attracted by the light
