An average hotel, good reception staff who was very helpful during the booking and also when we arrived to check in. The initial room given has heavy cigarette smell although booking was for a non-smoking room. The reception was helpful and friendly during the request to change the room to a non-smoking room. A floor of the hotel was under renovations according to the staff. The facilities offered was just average and commensurate with the offered rate, which is reasonably acceptable for a short overnight stay. We booked this hotel because it was near the Sandakan Golf & Country Club, but quite far from the main town itself and also Sandakan's main attraction like the English Tea House & Restaurant and Agnes Keith House, etc. There are shops around and within the hotel but only the Japanese restaurant, massage parlor and a sundry shop etc were opened.

Well, the hotel quiet far from town where you can visit harbour mall, but no need to worry because you still can go to IJM town area where the Giant Hypermarket located and also McDonald if you're supporter of this brand of fast food. The problem is the water heater. We complained many times but there's no action taken from the hotel staff. Especially when we stayed inside a huge room. It's an average hotel but you can go down the hotel for cheap breakfast around RM3 and i saw 1 "illegal" gambling place on the left side of the hotel and spa with girly services on the left side. Most men will be around the hotel in the evening and i wonder what they up to....

I usually stay in Tyng Garden when I am here for my business trips. Mainly it is near the airport. The hotel is average and is showing signs of wear and tear. Hotel need to do some refurbishment on the bathroom. Room are adequate with LCD tv and limited tv channels. The bed is below average. The mattress need to be changed. As for the wifi, it's barely usable. Decided to use my phone data as the wifi is just too slow. There is a pub nearby so you will hear the music blaring to the wee hours of the morning. As for the price, it is what you would expect for the hotel of this price. There are some newer hotels in Sandakan of similar class. So, you may want to try the newer hotels.

Pleasant but too far from town. Large rooms with big clean bathroom. Housekeeping provide clean towels, bottled water and a newspaper every morning. Tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer provided. Not much storage space meaning things we didn't hang up had to stay in the suitcase. Giant hypermarket and McDonald's very close walking distance and lots of street cafes and nic-nac shops under hotel. Staff are very friendly and the hotel reception very clean. Downfalls to this hotel are: no restaurant in the hotel, too far from town and the nightclub/karaoke bar stays open till 2am most nights and is very loud!

You get what you pay for. Less than RM100 a night (around USD30). Basic amenities are provided (hot water, kettle, tea bags etc), and the room we stayed in (3 adults) was very spacious and clean. Two downsides - not in town, and the toilet needs a little refurbishment.

I decided to write a review as it has been some while no update for this hotel. Me, hubby and mom were staying in this hotel end of Feb 2014. We took 2 family rooms due to hotel was fully booked. Our rooms were located on 1st floor, we were surprised when we step in to the room, it was big and spacious, there was a queen bed and a single bed in each family room. The room was clean, the toilet was decent. Honestly, we were quite worry during check in after we read all the negative reviews in tripadvisor, we had no choice but had to stay here due to the hotel is located nearby our relative's wedding hall. We were glad and happy that this hotel has done a good job on renovating its rooms. We did not expect much as the rate for family room was around RM90/ room/ night. This is a great deal as 3 pax can actually stay in a room. There are many shop lots around the hotel within walking distance, including local cafes, bakery shop, grocery shop and restaurants. Giant hypermarket is just across the street. We highly recommend this hotel to businessman or family travelling to Sandakan and would like to stay far from the congested downtown (hotel is located at Mile 5).
