We stayed here for one night after being on Selingan island. The welcome from the staff was so welcoming with a cold towel and lovely fruit drink. Walter and his team made us feel very at home. The river cruise was one of our absolute highlights of the trip. We saw monkeys, lots of birds and a wild elephant! It was a wonderful trip. The accommodation was basic but was really nice and we had a great sleep here. For dinner, we had a table set out with candles, petals and a cake for dessert (honeymoon). We loved our stay here and would absolutely recommend it as part of your trip. Would 100% stay again if we were in Borneo!
We did the 2N3D tour. The tour was very well organised with transfers and logistics being smooth. We saw a lot of monkeys and birds on the river cruises as well as snakes, a crocodile and a wild cat. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife. Rooms are basic but relatively clean and cool (until 10:30 when the air con is switched off) - bathroom cleanliness could be slightly improved with a little refurb. With repellent and a net we had no problems with mosquitos. Food is decent. No wifi and lots of time in between cruises so bring a good book! The river itself is beautiful and and the boat trips are less intense (in terms of leeches and insects) compared to doing only jungle walks. Overall, would recommend to people who want to see wildlife without…
Absolutely loved the River, the incredible variety of wildlife and the BNL. Accommodation was good - clean and comfortable. Food was a buffet at set times, but plenty of it and reasonable variety. The boat tours were fantastic - so much wildlife observed in a short time here (Pygmy Elephants, Orangutan, Proboscis, a large Croc, Silver Leaf monkey’s, kingfishers, mangrove snake and loads more)! The night boat trip was also excellent with some great nocturnal creatures seen!
With access only via boat from Sukau, this Lodge is all about the Kinabatangan River and its' fantastic wildlife. We enjoyed three nights here in an OK room with comfotable beds and an en-suite bathroom, although it was a bit grubby around the edges and the shower had a tendency to go luke warm after a while. The Lodge has a rather run-down feel with some areas in a state of disrepair and there is limited areas you can walk round; but staff were friendly and the dining area was pleasant enough with reasonably-priced beers available. The food consisted of a selection of tasty locally-inspired dishes including some interesting vegetarian options (the soya and vegtables was lovely), served buffet style unless there was only a few guests staying. A plentiful supply of drinking…
I stayed here for two nights as part of a trip-a-deal tour of Borneo. The lodges were mostly clean (other than the chunk of hair left in the bathroom). The water flows a bit slowly in the shower. They tell you not to leave anything lying around outside your room as the monkeys will steal it - but then make you take your shoes off to go into the dining areas (they do provide room thongs you can wear to get to the dining area). There is no wifi available. The mosquitoes are horrendous so wear your Aerogard or Bushmans! They have some reading material available (including a book on the wildlife of Borneo). We did multiple tours on the river at dusk and dawn to spot the wildlife and saw heaps of varieties of monkeys. Also did a jungle walk and the leeches are friendly too. Be…
