room is good, service not bad, but the location...we find it really hard to find the location of this hotel. i booked this hotel because the price is quite cheap, but i didn't check the location. i think it's quite new hotel in a quite developed area, not in the centre of Sandakan.
I went to Sandakan for a short trip and decided to stay at My Dream hotel because of the cheap price. I was expecting a basic room but I surprised to see the room, comfortable and very fast wifi. The only thing that I dont really like about the room is,it was too noisy and we can actually hear people slamming the door, people walking outside and at night it was very noisy because there's a bar just next to the hotel. Overall its a nice hotel but just too noisy for me.
Small room with shower room and toilet which was good - we had upgraded as I had originally thought we had booked a room with a bathroom. The booking was confusing. There was no cold water available and no tea and coffee provided though there was a kettle. The area was out of the way fortunately this was ok for us as we had a day to prepare for a safari. Not somewhere I would stay again. Not much service offered at all.
I checked in and entered my room, noticed there was no bathroom. Counter lady said this is a shared bathroom. Fine! I requested to change room and i'll pay for the extra. Unfortunately, All rooms are occupied! I told her your booking didn't state "SHARED BATHROOM". She said it did. I went back and double check my booking. Under the few booking titles, I booked STANDARD QUEEN and not STANDARD QUEEN ROOM WITH SHARED BATHROOM. However, STANDARD QUEEN is actually the same as STANDARD QUEEN ROOM WITH SHARED BATHROOM!! This is so misleading, by using such method to increase their booking rates! If you want to look for that TINY shared bathroom with TINY logo, you have to click the room and then scroll all the way down to the bottom and there you are. Who the hell wanna read every single of amenities. This hotel is trying to mislead and fool customers to increase its business. Besides, the picture in the Shared bathroom shows there is a hair dryer. Misleading to the top. No HAIR DRYERS are available for those who book under SHARED BATHROOM! Secondly, the pub which is just right below the hotel. Probably it was the weekend or a holiday? The karaoke volume is up to its max listening to amateurs sing, Well free music for u! Starting from early nights probably 2200 PM? till 0100 AM they'll turn the karaoke session to a head banging loud bass 90's music disco. Yes, i just mentioned DISCO. It ends at sharp 0400 AM. YES, because i was awake until it ends! The music was horrible and the low class head banging retard can only bear with such low class music! Third, thin walls and doors! people walking pass at the corridor can be heard like there's no walls. doors banging loudly and people talking along the way. Fine, this i can bear but those i mentioned above? I'll let you decide. P/S: Look at the photos i share below and the confirmation email from Agoda.…
On one of my Sabah road trips, I had booked My Dream Hotel online... based on the cheap rate, I was not expecting much. The location was in the new Sandakan town which I have yet to explore. Making more stops that planned from our Semporna to Lahad Datu then Sandakan route, we made it to the hotel at 10pm. Upon check in, I was immediately impressed by the warm greeting and service attended by the receptionist on duty. I was more delighted when I entered the room to see an extremely cosy and most important, clean hotel room. Pillows, sheets and towels exceeded my expectations for a hotel room with this kind of rate. The toilets were also clean and offered the basics which I was not too bothered with as I always carry my own toiletries. There was a coffee maker in the room and a flat screen TV with decent channels, including HBO! WiFi connection was fast (hence why I can write this review tonight)... Another bonus, the hotel is just a walking distance from local eateries with a range of delights... some open 24 hours. Also a McDonalds very near by which was perfect for those like myself after being spoiled with the wonderful Sabah sea food for almost a week. I highly recommend this hotel, especially to those travellers with own transportation to travel to the main Sandakan town center. Only drawback (depending how you see things) is the size of the room... rather small as so were the beds. But that's my kind of hotel... cosy.…
