Sabah Hotel was rank on top 3 hotels in sandakan based on trip advisor. I was recently went Encore for karaoke with friends, once we arrived and book our room the reception tell us that they only accept cash as the method of payment. How can be ?? This is not years 90s or 00s. Since we are living with advance technolgy the management should be improve their quality of services such as variety of method payment(credit or debit card, QR pay, grab pay) and now days we all not carry such big amount of cash. Even small vendor of food panda patner owns variety of payment method. Please take note.
The cleanliness & the food quality is very bad. I will never recommend people to eat at this hotel. After a long journey i check in late & feel so tired straight take a rest & i didnt had my dinner. Wake up very hungry & order Nasi lemak.. After eating nearly half of the rice only i only see there is a creature in my rice. Feel very disappointed with the food quality.
Stayed for a night in room 705. Truly appreciate the complimentary Upgrade to Deluxe King. Room newly renovated with fresh paint, wallpaper and carpets. Room & toilet was very clean. The view of greenery from the room was amazing. If you are looking for a comfortable night stay in Sandakan look no further.
This place looks nothing like the internet site. It's an aging beauty, well past her prime. But like all grand dames, this old girl has plenty of character. Sure the beds look like they were first choppered in during the Malayan Emergency but they were still comfortable. The lift is a relic but still works and the touches around the place have all been dulled by time. But the saving grace is the great staff. Friendly and helpful. The yum cha at the restaurant was surprisingly nice and the bar made for a relaxing night cap. I didn't get to use the pool but it looked nice and inviting. All up, a good place to rest your weary heels.
We only stayed one night during a business trip, & the hotel was fine for that. A longer stay would have been a bit strained. The place is tired & dark - the lobby bar area lacks any atmosphere & the coffee/cake lounge was pretty awful. The pool was open but it wasn’t very clean. And there were no loungers around it to make it a relaxing respite after a hot day at work. The room was large and well-appointed. Although it didn’t feel especially clean. I had a huge balcony (with no furniture) which was good for HIT training - as the gym was closed. Really not my cup of tea. But ok for short stops.
