📌Pullman Miri Waterfront

With the newly imposed lockdown in KL, our initial plans for a vacation there were ditched. We spontaneously decided on a trip to Miri, and stayed in Pullman Miri Waterfront.

Being currently one of the newest hotels in Miri, Pullman never fails to exhibit it’s slick contemporary modern vibes. The designs are beautiful, and this is already evident the moment one enters into the lobby. Located in the heart of Miri, directly at the Miri Waterfront, the location is perfect for those who wish the convenience of touring Miri.

Due to a last minute booking, the first night in Pullman Miri Waterfront was spent in a deluxe suite facing the city. That view was not at all spectacular. I requested for a change of room the next day, and lo and behold, waterfront-facing suites truly had the best view.
The superior rooms tend to be city-facing and more budget friendly. I personally feel that paying for a deluxe suite facing the waterfront makes the most out of your stay, however. The view is worth it all; it defines Miri.

Let me describe it as best as possible.
🚤 Rugged boats passing through the serene Miri Waterfront while ferrying workers involved in the petroleum industry
🏡 🌊 rustic-looking homes on stilts by the river banks
🏔 Canada Hill towards the right side of the horizon
🌊 beautiful endless blue seas towards the left side of the horizon
🚗 👨‍💻 watching Miri locals go about their lives. Some could spend hours doing that

You get this view also at the infinity pool. By the side of the pool is the gym, which is furnished really well with new equipment.

Breakfast to me was mostly average. The service could be improved, with a better selection. They didn’t have Sarawak Laksa, which to me, was iconic of Pullman Kuching’s breakfast.

If I were to return to Miri, I’d come back again because of the location and that serene view.

After reading the reviews on Pullman Waterfront Miri, I booked and paid 9 months in advance for a sea view room. I checked in online in advance also after receiving an email to do so. After leaving Penang at 1:15pm, I arrived at the hotel at 9pm that evening (had to go via Kuala Lumpur). I checked in and proceeded to to the lifts. The 2 hotel room cards didn't work and so we had to go back to the front desk. Finally when we arrived in the room, I realized we didn't had a seaview room. I rang the front desk and they confirmed room 1602 was city view room and there were no seaview rooms left. I was transferred to the duty manager but there was no answer and hence I had to go downstairs to reception again at 9:45pm at night. The staff member said that seaviews rooms are popular on the weekends. He gave us a complimentary upgrade to a room on the top floor which was an executive king room. This also had access to the Pullman executive lounge in the evening for drinks and snacks. I couldn't complain after that!
The room was spacious with a bath and the view was amazing!
The breakfast is quite good and I noticed this morning that food was served with covers to the plates to keep the flies away.

The pool area is also lovely with an infinity pool and spa. The hotel is close to the shopping mall (Imperial city) and many restaurants.

I would recommend this hotel!

The second time stayed here and service was fantastic. Upon checking in, given room 1812, I opened the room but the smell was like some smoking aroma around the room, I called the housekeeping they came and tried to spray the room hoping that it would be gone but sadly not. The receptionist then managed to put me into another room on the same floor 1804 and it pleasantly smelled like normal. (Some guests maybe take for granted smoking the room though already strict note that all rooms are non-smoking).

The pool was great though it is warm water due to the hot weather outside. Breakfast was great ( I like their laksa, spicy enough).

Room was comfy enough, wide space maybe 50m2 surroundings. It's like 2 space standard hotel room partitioned into one room.

We had booked countdown party at Pullman 2 weeks before and then decided to even book rooms to stay back since the party was suppose to end at 3 am.
With lots of expectation we booked 3 double occupancy Superior Rooms just 3 days before including breakfast for 6 friends. While booking, the check in time was also informed to avoid any delay.
We reached there by almost 5pm. The receptionist was quick in getting the balance payment and ID details, where as when asked for room keys, it was told that she cannot guarantee when the rooms will be available, housekeeping is going on.
The hotel lobby was like a market with nobody to care with all Baggage and eating leftovers kept in the walkway.
As we had travelled for almost 2hours, the team was very tired. But the reception staffs were so unprofessional, they even didnt care to offer a welcome drink.

Finally, at 6pm after lots of arguement to inform the manager, they allotted 2 rooms in different floors that too not clean and missing amenities.

The 3rd room was requested more than 3 times for which they informed that it might take even 9pm...

To my opinion, each and every guest should be treated fairly. There shall be no partiality shown in the name of nationality, race or colour.

The only positive to share is the morning river and sea view with an infinity Pool.

Thanks to the hotel management to provide a build up for the DJ party with substandard drinks and worst starters.

One should surely appreciate the marketing skills in getting the tickets sold and make the crowd face palm and then adjust to whatever called "The Pullman Party"

When discussed with my fellow colleagues at office, the same kind of incident was also experienced by them.

Without a doubt, the guest rating should be not 8.7 but just 0.7.

Would never make an attempt again.

This hotel used to be amazing.

No maintenance, dirty bathrooms, they've sold out the gym and pool to make extra money but forgot who their first customer is.... The hotel guest. Unless you enjoy swimming in the middle of a childrens swimming lesson with zero relaxation go stay elsewhere.

Room service is a joke, the morning buffet is horrid and don't dare go to their dimsumm
They even got rid of couches near pool for food stalls lol. So many get rich quick schemes

Overall stay was great: rooms, lounge, staff, check-in, etc. Was only disappointed with the welcome drink offer. It is certainly not on par with Pullmans in the region. Their F&B manager overseeing this should really travel to regional Pullmans to understand why. This is also not the first suggestion to the hotel to improve their welcome drinks selection and offer. In the early days, the offerings were standard. Any wine/beer/etc. Now its a miserable mocktail.

Stephanie was excellent in her role at the executive lounge. She was quick to recognise our Accor platinum status and made us feel welcomed.

She would regularly come by to check on us to make sure we are alright, drinks are full and our table mess is cleared.

She also made the effort to remember the name of my baby girl and kept her entertained by interacting with her (often calling her by her name).

She's definitely an asset to Pullman Miri!

The rest of the team from lobby front desk are very well-trained as well. I was constantly addressed me by my name, even when I walked past their counter to/from breakfast. This is rarely seen at hotels these days.

Pros:
Large spacious rooms and great views at an affordable price. The views are magnificent and you are able to see the beach, sea and mountains.

Central location with malls and food nearby.

Beds are comfortable, especially the firm pillows.

Large pool and gym.

Big breakfast spread. Breakfast is also better at the executive lounge where they serve kolomee, rendang and kuching laksa. The cakes are better too. At the exec lounge, they also serve free food, wine and beer from 5-7. You can’t find any information on the lounge online, or from their staff (online or in person), so I paid the cash to tell you.

Cons:
More needs to be done about the flies at breakfast - some were on the fresh fruits.

At breakfast, asked for help for a table of 12 but staff was at a loss since it was CNY and horribly packed. They told us where to go and we shifted the tables ourselves.

Gym: of the 4 treadmills, 2 were spoilt and it’s terribly dark, especially at the weights area which makes it dangerous. There’s no air conditioning with only fans.

Pool: pool had quite a lot of dead leaves - should clear more often.

That’s only one hotel I will stay in Miri , PULLMAN Miri !
Well managed by front desk Ms Gloria , Alexander and nevertheless happy face with friendly attitude Elizabeth & Hasbullah . Great job and trying their best to give the best services not only for me , but everyone !
Most amazing was the cocktail drink was tip top from the lounge served by miss Stephenie . The the food is good for evening cocktail.
Nevertheless on the day in lounge there is a trainee first day alone to serve customer at lounge for breakfast named Brendy really amused me that she is very friendly and hardworking .

After 4 years lapse, return to Miri, Sarawak! Book 4 rooms to stay for a night
at Pullman Miri. Foremost, were welcomed by front line staff and felt like second home visit. The lobby area is spacious and deluxe room is superb overlooking the waterfront. All rooms amenities and features are of re-tro design and practical.
The Pullman Kitchen provides variety of food and breakfast is outstanding with lots of varieties to choose. Service staff very informative and always there to serve you.
Overall, good stay, good room, good food and good staff. Kudos to all !
