we spent four days with our 2 daughters. Rooms are good for the price and the welcome is perfect. The hotel is conveniently located to the beach, which is never crowded. There are several restaurants around where we have eaten and most of them were very good
In August my wife and I stayed with our baby for 6 days at Empire Resort aka Eco Marine Resort aka Big Island Teluk Dalam. The stay was so disappointing that a month later I take the time to write this review. Please read this before you book. First, the 'resort' is located on the most beautiful part of the beach. Magnificent! Unfortunately they know how to ruin the rest. A few things that made our stay unpleasant: * Reservations: MUST be prepaid for the entire stay. Otherwise our reservation would be invalid. The manager just failed to make us pay in advance while she talked about it all the time. * Check-in: Once arrived our room was not ready yet, and we had to wait another half an hour from the manager. Nothing happened to our room in that half hour. The manager was only on her phone. We received no proof of registration, which they asked for when checking out. * Cleanliness rooms: Our room (for which we paid 280 RM !!) was dirty. Ants everywhere, sand on the floor and the bathroom was not cleaned. We ourselves have collected 4 staff members and have to manage to clean up and have had to roll up our sleeves ourselves. * Restaurant: Something goes wrong with every order in the restaurant. The kitchen is unhygienic, the vegetables are rotting in the fridge in the general area. Don't eat here. * Staff: The staff has no idea what they are doing and is not trained for working in the hospitality industry. The 19-year-old (....) manager also clearly has no training in hospitality. She loses her people, she insults, is incompetent. Unfortunately the staff is so incompetent that you need the manager for everything you ask for. As a result, things are going very badly, and everything takes a very long time. The cup of coffee on the photo below was there 24 hours, just nothing is cleared after our breakfast. * Maintenance: The maintenance of the buildings is poor. The garden is not beautiful, so 'Garden View' is not special. See some photos that I have attached. Geen enkele wc-stortbak was in tact, see photo. * Conclusion: because the place is so beautiful and we have used the services of the 'resort' as little as possible, we had a good time. This resort does not provide any service and will ruin your vacation. Because you have to pay in advance, you are attached to them and you cannot leave. All other accommodations on the beach do not recommend you stay here, due to the bad reputation (their name changes very often due to this). If you want to enjoy this beautiful place, stay with the neighbors of Flora Bay, for example, that was a well-run resort. * Finally: I asked for a modified bill before checking out in advance (we had slept an extra night for logistical reasons). The manager forgot to charge that night entirely so we were very grateful for her 'discount' which she unknowingly gave. It eased our pain a bit.…
average average This place is not great to hang out, room is so so bad condition . need to prepare for self service dont expect to have good service la the only best is their beach in front of them others too bad
The beach out front is great and the owner is really nice but the room was too expensive for what it was and the communal bathroom didn’t have a sink or mirror. There was also no toilet paper! Plus when we woke up there was what looked like mice droppings in the bathroom.
Absolutely the worst experience in Malaysia!! We got a dirty shack paid in advance a helluva lot no money back for our “double superior”. Pictures speak for themselves!!! Only asset: the beach in front of this place is amazing! Look harder to get another place if you land there with no reservations whatsoever. They just don’t deserve guests. Overpriced! We give one circle just because you can’t submit the review with no circle...
We've stayed a couple of days at Eco Marine. We were very disappointed when we arrived considering our room looked nothing like the pictures. The place was rather wet,the bathroom needs deep cleaning and the toilet was dirty. The staff was friendly though and the outdoor area was gorgeous.
Service too bad. Reception got many non-logic answer. Dont have kettle. U must paid for warm water or hot water even u need to rent glass here. Better dont come here with ur babies. Spoil toilet. Not provide dustbin. Room also dont have mirror. Their reception said “cermin dah di bahey dek kere”. Dont have foot mat. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏼
This is a small resort in redang island of malaysia with an amazing beach and corals. Ideal place to go snorkelling and scuba diving. The place is only accessible by boats. The collection of corals and diverse fishes are amazing. The waters are green at this side and the beach is nice and clean. Worth a stay for a night or two.
I do not understand why the review were so bad as I personally was amazed by this hotel not only because it located right in front of the beach but the room is also very clean and cozy. The aircon function well, room with many plugs so you do not need to fight for charging your phone or power bank; and they also provided each of us a clean towel. One plus point is the room provided us many hanger so we can hang our clothes and swim suit. The only thing I dislike is the water system in the toilet were not so good as my friend had a hard time to flush after making their business. Also, they did not provide us the toilet paper. However, their staffs are very friendly. I personally think we can't complain much as we booked this hotel with a really cheap price. I had stayed at a much terrible one in Perhentian Kecil. The seaview here is really really beautiful! You can swim right in front of the hotel and I had seen many fishes hiding in between the rocks, I had also seen big fishes when I swim slightly further. Nonetheless, I did not take the snorkeling package from this hotel as I had found a cheaper package. I took the package with Mr. Zarif (Phone number: 013-9275079, If he asked who give u the phone number then u just say u get it from Spiderman then he will know. sorry I only have his phone number but forgot to note down the name of the resort he is working, it is near to Fauna Beach Chalet, you can just walk straight from eco marine, Mr. Zariff can speak and understand English but he is a very shy guy, not so confidence in his speaking, if you want someone who are fluent in English he might not a good choice) He is a super friendly guy who introduced us many things to play around Perhentian, cheap and nice foods to eat (Cabana Cafe), he bought us to long beach (both way RM40) and introduce us to hike from long beach, start from the behind of Awatif cafe and bought us to see the sunset for free. The view is really stunning. The snorkeling trip to Rawa island and 3 other places is also very nice and I had seen alot of Big fishes, sting ray and beautiful coral. I will definitely come back again! Ohh.. they do not have wifi in this hotel and we can't even use our data (maxis) as the line is very unstable, the line was better when i went to long beach. But I personally think nobody need internet when you are suppose to chill in the beach. Hope this help! =D…
Eco marine. We booked 5 nights here and firstly, there is nothing on Expedia when you book saying there are no ATM’s or facilities to get money out on either of the islands. We were also told that their eftpos machine ‘wasn’t working’ so after a great deal of stress we had to arrange to swap euros at an average rate (but only enough for 430 ringgit). This place is badly managed, dirty, in need of some serious repairs and the exact opposite of well maintained. It is also almost the exact opposite of ‘eco’ with rubbish strewn all over the grounds, beach and in the water just in front of the ‘resort’. On our last day some locals and kids made a huge fire burning plastic and rubbish which filled the whole area with toxic stench. We also were not advised while booking or after booking that we would be coming in the off season which meant that the whole island was practically closed and the facilities were even more reduced than the standard. When we arrived, we were told there was other places to eat which was untrue because the only ways we could get food was at eco marine’s basic and disappointing little restaurant and from the shops on the smaller island we had to pay 50 ringgit to get to, despite the fact that all the other guests were going on the boat too. A lot of items on their menu were also unavailable leaving us to repeat eat the same dishes. The location is amazing and the people there (only 2 plus a grumpy cook) could barely speak English but tried very hard which made us feel very guilty about having any problems with the place at all because it’s obviously not their fault, they are only employed and paid poorly to almost single handedly manage our experience. Considering when we arrived we were the booked only guests, the room had mouse or rat poo in it, floors were filthy and there was even a fossilised dead frog behind the curtains. The day after we arrived we were told we could do a snorkeling tour and my partner asked if it was free or we had to pay. He was told it was free but later we had to pay 165 ringgit for it. We understand that it is hard to maintain a place on an island in the off season but we were given absolutely no warning that it would be completely different to how it was advertised, especially given the fact that Expedia showed the other resorts as ‘full’ not closed. The distance to the beach and the wildlife are really the best parts of staying here. I don’t recommend it to anyone that is looking for a fancier style resort because this place is a cheap, badly run, glorified crappy hostel which we couldn’t have anticipated from the price. We paid about $60 AUD a night to stay here and considering we were practically the only guests besides another couple that didn’t stay long and a French guy that also didn’t stay long, they could have done a LOT more to get the place into a reasonable condition for us. There is also nowhere to get alcohol on the off season whatsoever, so if you want drinks on the beach kind of holiday, beware. They also routinely switched off the generator for long periods of time without any notice. I think they were having problems with it, but on our second last day it was switched off without any warning at about 8.30am while we were still in bed meaning no fan, no wifi and no warm water to have a shower in. After a few hours of not seeing our ‘host’ I went and asked him what was the problem with the power. He said the generator had a ‘problem’ and wouldn’t be back on until the evening. He had nothing else to say or any apologies, told me he forgot to tell us even though we are the only guests here. On our last day we didn’t have power from 9-12 and from 2-6pm. We also spent more than the price of the room on eating there because it was the only place to get food, and we were caught with sneaky little mark ups like when they ran out of big bottles of water and proceeded to charge us more for 2 smaller bottles even though it was the only drinking water available. All in all, we made the most of our time here and kept an open mind and tried to be as flexible as possible despite the awful conditions because we had already paid in full and there wasn’t anywhere else to go except back to the mainland. I don’t recommend staying here to ANYONE. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague!…
