We did not stay here but we had our lunches here everyday. It was so easy and great to grab a burger / nasi lemak with some refreshing freshly blended juices after diving with the dive center next door. They also have keropok lekor, fries, wedges, etc that they will fry only upon order, ensuring that your snacks is fresh, hot and tasty. The people were friendly, and the views from the restaurant is just awesome.
For the post sea rendezvous where you just want a massive greasy Ramly burger with the works! They really do make the best local burgers on this part of the island. Clean stove and lovely people manning the place. You get fresh juice and 3in1 local hot drinks too. The owner Suhaila is likely to be around and she is the best person to chat to!
Suhailas Palace is a minimart/hotel/fastfood combo. Friendly staff. If you're short on cash and have a room booked, there's no limit to what you can charge to your room: food, snorkeling trips, everything from the shop. Ground floor rooms are NOISY as they are located pretty much on the main "street". Also, avoid the family room, it has an unpleasant smell, and no windows! The Island rooms are - for MY- expensive, but not worth it.
I would like to rate Suhaila palace: Environment: 9/10 (quiet, relax, less crowds) Location: 8/10 (restaurants, diving agent, and convenience store) **if you wish to go perhentian beach which is located at the other-side of island, might need trek est 15min to reach the place which for me, it is another fun exploration in perhentian besar! Cleanliness: 9/10 Service: 10/10 (staff are friendly) Price: 9/10 (very reasonable) WiFi: 9/10
The hotel is right at the beach with few restaurants besides, pretty tasty food i must say. It is located in the bigger island. Hotel can arrange boat ride to small island. Overall rating: not bad. Room service could have been better.
Standard rooms for budget travelling. The bed we got kept creaking as the frames were somewhat loose. Aircond emitted musky smell so we had to turn it off but thankfully the fans kept us cool throughout the night. Overall service was helpful as receptionist helped us plan the transportation from airport and boat transfers. Next to eateries and only 10 min boat ride away from the bars on long beach.
Very nice Island, Wonderful People, great value (Perhentian Islands are expensive), Suhaila is probably the best Value on Perhentian Besar. Suhaila organized the Transfer for us, arranged the taxi, the boat, the excusrsions. everything. she is amazing. thanks again
the good: clean room, cool aircond, friendly service, convenient shops with all essentials the bad: only 1 toilet roll and 1 bar of mini soap is provided. nothing else. no fridge/tv in the room, 2 towels provided, insects fly into the room every night, the water taxi drivers stationed at suhaila's palace are annoying and irritating, lost track of customers and even assuming we were another customer that checked out a few days ago, only after insisting that we are not, she finally believed us.. they were quite friendly in everything, but everything comes with a price. things sold in the essential shop at suhaila is pricier than another mini mart 10 minutes walk near Abdul's chalet. the food at cocohut is pricier than Abdul's chalet too, but the quality is slightly better. they offered and arranged pick up from the jetty to their hotel, but at a standard charge of rm70 per person. but did not mention this to us before, as we assume it is included in the room rate.…
We stayed there for 5 nights (planed was 2 nights) and we would have probably stayed longer but they were fully booked. The staff is really friendly and helpful. In their little store you can buy everything you need. The room (S8) had a fan and AC and was also clean (they clean your room every second night). From previous reviews we knew that the bathroom could be smelly our advice: do not use the bathroom fan and there is no smell. The bed was ok (a bit hard in our opinion). Cheap breakfast you can get next door (cocohut) or down the beach (nia cafe). Great burgers you get at Suhaila :-) Snorkling gear you can rent everywhere for 10 RM. We also did a snorkling trip. We would not recommend to do this with a tour! There are so many boats at the same spot at once. One boat almost hit my girlfriend which was in the water. They don’t watch/care. Furthermore, all the tourists scare off all the animals (the idiots chased the sea turtles, 3min later there were no more turtles). We recommend to hire a taxi boat (costs most likely more but you see more because you can go there after or before all the others.…
If you book this hotel stay, make sure you're on the 2nd floor. The rooms at the ground floor are right next to the lobby/shop. A lot of people will pass your room, except when you're upstairs. You should know the rooms have no tv, a simple bed, the shower is close to the toilet , no safe, no fridge and it has airconditioning. The view is nice. Do not pay more than 25 euro a room, cause it doesnt offer much. We ate breakfast at the cocohut wich is very good and thats right next to suhaila palace. It is a good location.
