Quaint 9 room boutique hotel located on Pulau Perhentian Besar. It fronts the turquoise blue sea with view of the local village on neighbouring island and has the green jungle at the back. Personally designed and built by the owner giving the hotel a unique feel with elements of the ocean. Equipped with amenities for a comfortable stay. Enjoy your meals at the 3 Fish Restaurant.
Standards in this hotel are excellent. The staff were absolutely lovely. Julie (part-owner) had the most incredible attention to detail and worked tirelessly to obtain her exacting standards. The rooms were nice and clean. There is a busy 5* PADI dive shop next door if you like diving (not that that was noticeable in the hotel). They don't use plastic bottles and all the water and ice are filtered which tasted great. The food was fantastic with great views over the bay. We stayed on the full board package (set menu so be sure to tell them what you can and can't eat at the time of booking, they were great with me as I don't eat rice - I know! In Asia!) and put weight on while we were there, it was too good to leave! Try the cheese omelette for breakfast - was one of the best I've ever had (and I had it twice!) The resort is seconds from the jetty so you don't even have far to walk when you arrive. If you are anything like us, you'll have to be dragged away and you'll wish that jetty was further away!! …

This place is fantastic. From the idyllic setting, to the service and friendliness, the place has it all. Ignore all of this…the food is to die for. Had lunch here and are already making plans to go go back. Absolutely the best food on y we’re doing a lamb pie with mashed potato and salad on our first visit and it was superb.

Arrived as guests, left as friends. Beach box is a cosy boutique hotel consisting of 9 rooms only. First floor room views are worth the amount paid. Best to bring own bottles for drinking water refill ( helps with environment too by reducing virgin plastic usage) . Bottles of water are placed in each room & once finish, just exchange the empty bottles for new drinking ones at the bar/dining area. Dining at beach box is finger licking good. Breakfast is included in room rate, while one can choose full board ( lunch & dinner) or half board ( either lunch or dinner only) on daily basis. Guests from other hotels can also dine here but both inhouse Beachbox guests & other hotels guest needs to pre-book lunch or dinner in advance ( at least the day before). BB team are small in numbers but mighty. The whole place inclusive food&beverages , room cleaning , etc.. was handled when we were there , by 7 pax ( Nico, Yuen, Mou, Sue, Cindy , Halim & another malay chap) . The crew treats each guest well like friends with advice on where else to eat on island, to water activities & hiking over to Mama’s chalet. The best place to chill on a hot afternoon to viewing sunset would have to be at BeachBox deck. Looking forward to staying at Beach Box again!…

Beach Box (August 2022). We were in a comfortable family room upstairs with attached double bunk bed set up for the kiddies. Food was ok but wouldn’t say 1st rate and the early morning booking request for lunch and dinner tends to encourage guests to plan dine elsewhere. The kitchen capability could be be upgraded as Breakfasts are basic, preferably could have options based on a healthier style / continental breakfast. Staff were very pleasant. It’s no doubt been challenging times since Covid years. All the best 😅

First of all, I must say my room was pretty spacious and comfortable, and the staff is welcoming. But I can’t help thinking this “boutique hotel” is way overpriced. When you pretend to be a mid-high category hotel, you must deliver: a wifi that works more than a few hours in a 4–day-stay (when it worked perfectly in the surrounding hotels); a peaceful environment instead of an insanely loud generator just in front of the rooms; a more varied breakfast… Also they should work with more reliable partners: the airport shuttle we booked through the hotel never showed up and the boat trip was so badly organised we had to wait thirty minutes in the sun for other customers to arrive. No compensation was proposed until I asked -harshly- for it and finally got a generous discount of… 2 %.…

It was my first time visiting P. Perhentian with a group of 10 friends, and we made the best decision to stay at this quaint 9 bedroom hotel. Though it is not rated as a 5 star hotel in terms of facilities, it made up for it as the one that provided "par excellence" service and warmth (as in a cosy friendly place to chill). The rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the meals prepared in "omakase" style were delicious and sumptuous. It was exciting to guess what our next meal is going to be but each dish did not disappoint including the vegetarian meals prepared for one of us. Kudos and a very big TQ to Niko, Su and the rest of the crew for making our stay a memorable one and many of us in the group will be back again. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone planning to visit P Perhentian!!!…

An amazing boutique hotel with really well designed rooms and the best hospitality we have ever encountered not only in Malaysia but the world! Yuen, Nico and the team ensure that guests really feel at home by catering to your every needs and actually anticipating them. The food is the best we have ever eaten in any hotel in Malaysia - truly authentic. There is no menu but the chef only makes whatever is fresh and based upon your needs. The fried chicken in the Nasi Borjari was a spiritual experience according to my family! The chef was so good, it turned my son from a wannabe vegetarian into a true carnivore! Our family group has food allergies and while we did bring our own gluten free bread etc, they were able to ensure that the meals my kids ate were suitable. Don't bother eating anywhere else on the island.. its really not worth it! The only downside for is with Beach Box is the fact there is no direct beachfront from the resort - but its only a 5 minute walk down the jetty to the beach outside Tuna Bay Resort.…
